"Diego!"
"Lila!"
They both hollered their names, in hopes that they would appear, but the lack of the married couple's bickering made it known that Five and Y/N were the only ones at the station.
"What is this place?" The girl asked. She didn't expect an answer as they went past the turnstiles with their eyes wandering about.
Though she stilled earned a response from Five, "It's my new power, apparently."
When she saw every signage written in cryptic codes, she was certain this was not just a random train station. Had it been so, it would have been filled with a crowd of people. Not to mention the map, in which every train route shown was awfully intertwined together -- the possibilities of distinguishing what way is which were slim to none.
Just when things couldn't be more mind-boggling, the voice speaking over the Public Address system was speaking gibberish. The two of them could say that it was just backwards, although the voice was so warped, they couldn't be certain if it is entirely reversed.
In the midst of that, there arrived along the tracks was a train ready to halt. Still, no other passengers were aboard other than them. As the door automatically opened, the PA system went off again. Its eerie voice had Y/N unsettled. She couldn't help but stay close to Number Five.
“Do we hop on?” She asked telepathically as they looked back at the train's automated entrance. The indecisiveness becoming the cat that caught her tongue.
They looked at each other with both caution and curiosity swirling around their insides. Y/N could hear the dilemma in Five's mind loud and clear.
He himself was weary of making a decision, until he heard Y/N's voice in his head. The sense of familiarity with her telepathy made him uncertain whether he was fascinated or bothered. It was mainly because he easily felt used to it and yet he wasn't sure how to respond back the way she did. So instead, he nodded and diverted back to the train.
"Ladies first." He gestured.
"Oh, such a gentleman." Y/N awed stoically before boarding the train with Five right behind her. As soon as were both aboard, the doors glided to a close. Their curiosity was growing larger as their eyes proceeded to inspect the interior of their ride, trying to figure out where the train would be taking them.
Meanwhile, the dull, peaceful diner was suddenly the complete opposite.
The waitress -- who went by the name Rosie -- let Ben back into the diner to talk with him while she had her lunch. They enjoyed their conversation, even after she found out that Ben was the cryptocurrency perpetrator.
That is, until all of her customers suddenly began bustling around and pulling out their melees -- guns, crowbars, tasers; everything. Subsequently, turning against Ben and pulling the perplexed Rosie away from him after the sheriff stunned him with his stun gun, revealing his tentacles which appalled everybody even more. "Come on. Let's go. Come on." The sheriff urged.
Rosie wanted to help her newly-found friend to get back to. Unfortunately, her uncle's grip on her arms was too strong. "No." She tried her hard to pull away, "I said get off of me!"
Shrugging off Gary's grasp left her at gunpoint, although unsolicited. "Don't shoot!" Gary commanded to his comrade. It was evident that everyone inside the diner was agitated, especially now when the Sheriff's niece was standing up for Ben, despite finding out about his tentacles -- which was an unpredictable challenge.
"Everybody, stay calm." Gary said to both the people on his side as well as himself.
But with everyone suddenly aiming their weapons at the man behind her, Rosie couldn't seem to find the will to calm down. "Uncle Gary, what is this?" She asked what was happening for the nth time.
