-Y/N's POV-
My alarm blared, making me groan as my eyes fluttered open slowly. I hit snooze and headed back to bed.
Those 9 minutes went by in one minute it felt like, making me groan loudly in annoyance.
After hitting snooze 2 more times, I finally caved in and got up.
I took a quick shower, blow dried then curled my hair, put on makeup and got dressed.
You wore this:
Once I was done getting ready, I ruffled out my hair in the mirror with a sigh, not ready to face my best friends after this weekends events.
I walked downstairs and met with my parents.
MOM:
"Morning sweetie." She smiled at me.
Y/N:
"Morning."
DAD:
"Are you feeling any better?" He frowned.
Y/N:
"Yeah." I nodded.
DAD:
"Good." He smiled.
Y/N:
"I'll see you guys later." I strolled over to the door.
MOM:
"Be safe please."
Y/N:
"I will."
DAD:
"Love you monkey!" He waved.
MOM:
"Love you."
Y/N:
"Love you guys." I waved back then left the house, shutting the door behind me.
Once I saw Clay's white car, I sighed nervously to myself then jogged over and hopped in, setting my backpack down on the floor.
I didn't meet their gaze as I kept silent, I didn't really feel like talking. I shut the door and buckled myself up, still without a word.
I heard Clay sigh nervously as he took off.
For the whole ride, the 4 of us kept silent as I kept my head facing the window.
When we made it to the school, I hopped out of the car, swinging my backpack over my shoulder then shut the door. I didn't wait for them to walk with me this time, I just started walking away from them with a frown.
I actually made it to Chemistry early. I strolled into the classroom with my head down, gripping my backpack. Then I took my seat near the window and set my backpack down as I got out my homework from Friday.
A few minutes later, Clay sat down next to me in his spot. I didn't move my eyes from my paper.
For the whole class, I ignored him. With what happened yesterday, them freezing and not doing anything when I was almost dying, and the fact that Nicole wasn't gonna be around for a while, it made me feel numb in a way. I didn't feel like talking at all, to anyone.
The class went by excruciatingly slow. I felt Clay's eyes on me most of the time but I didn't say a word nor pass a glance his direction.
When the bell rung, I sped out of there and immediately went to math class. Once I entered, I saw Mr. Jay look up from his desk and meet my eyes with a smile.
MR. JAY:
"Good morning Y/N."
Y/N:
"Morning." I mumbled with a light smile then took my seat in front of Darryl.
DARRYL:
"Hi Y/N!" He waved.
Y/N:
"Hi." I said quietly then turned back around to get my homework out.
I felt a breeze pass by and I knew it was George. But, I kept my guard up and started doodling flowers in my notebook.
Throughout the class, I barely paid attention. I just kept doodling all over my notebook as things continued to feel numb. It felt like I was in a dream the whole time, like everything wasn't real.
As I was doodling, my eyelids got heavier and my vision became blurrier as I wasn't really focused on what I was doing, just zoning out.
MR. JAY:
"Y/N..." his voice echoed, "Y/N...Y/N—"
I shot my attention up and saw his kind of worried expression at me, along with the whole classes.
MR. JAY:
"Could you answer number 4 please?"
My eyelids became heavy again as my eyes filled with slight tears. Instead of answering his question, I packed up my things and left, letting the door shut behind me, all with an emotionless look on my face.
My feet guided me as my mind felt clouded. I ended up sneaking up to the roof to get some fresh air and some alone time.
When I made it, I set my bag down with a sigh as I frowned at the sky above me. Then I collapsed and began messing with my jacket sleeve as I kept my gaze at the sky.
My eyelids fell heavy again as more tears filled my eyes.
GEORGE:
"Y/N—"
My head jerked to the right to see George gripping his backpack, looking very worried.
GEORGE:
"W—why'd you leave and...w—why are you up here...?" He frowned.
I swallowed hard as I moved my gaze to the sky again, keeping silent.
He sighed nervously then sat down next to me, letting his backpack fall.
GEORGE:
"Look, if this is about yesterday...I'm sorry for not doing much, okay? We all are...we feel terrible about it Y/N..."
My heavy eyelids stayed frozen as the sky was becoming blurry now.
GEORGE:
"Y/N, we were just scared to lose you..." his voice echoed.
I stayed emotionless. Then I started thinking about why I'm feeling the way I am...then something hit me.
Y/N:
"Am I dead...did I die yesterday...?" I asked quietly.
George's eyes widened as his face shined in even more worry and confusion.
GEORGE:
"What?? N—no—you're right here with me, Y/N—"
Y/N:
"Then why...do I feel like this...?" I squinted at the sky.
GEORGE:
"W—what do you feel like??"
My eyes fell to the parking lot below.
Y/N:
"Numb..." I flatly said.
George slowly scooted closer to me and wrapped his arms around my body, making my eyes widen.
GEORGE:
"I'm sorry we're making you feel that way..." he said weakly, "Y/N...when I saw you there I...I was so scared and...I was yelling at them to do CPR but they didn't know how to do it...so I got a lifeguard..."
My eyes widened a little as my eyes fell to my lap.
Y/N:
"So...if you froze like they did then...I wouldn't be here..." I spoke lowly as tears filled my eyes all the way.
He sighed while holding onto me tighter.
GEORGE:
"You're here...that's all that matters..."
I tilted my head up to meet his eyes. Our faces were inches apart as I saw his cheeks become red from how close we were. Then I raised my hand to hold his cheek, and I kissed his blush.
George gasped lightly as I felt his heated up skin under the cheek kiss. Then I pulled my head back and rubbed his cheek.
Y/N:
"Thank you for saving me..." I sadly smiled as the tears fell down my cheeks.
George's eyes filled with slight tears as he huffed out with a nod.
GEORGE:
"Your welcome..."
Instead of pulling away, I buried my head in his neck while holding him tightly. He rubbed my arm while cuddling me.
Y/N:
"Can we just stay here for a while...?" I asked quietly.
I felt him nod.
GEORGE:
"Whatever you want..."
I warmly smiled while snuggling closer to him.
Y/N:
"I love being in your arms...it's so warm and nice..." I softly said.
George giggled while holding onto me tighter.
GEORGE:
"I agree...there's nothing better than this..." he said the last sentence quietly but I caught it, making me blush.
Y/N:
"Thank you for coming after me..."
GEORGE:
"Of course...I just wanted you to be okay and...I wanted us to be okay..."
More tears fell down my cheeks but instead of sad ones, they were happy ones, letting me smile.
GEORGE:
"Do you still feel numb?" He frowned.
I shook my head.
Y/N:
"Not with you here..."
-GEORGE's POV-
I sadly smiled as some tears filled my eyes. I held her as I breathed out, thankful she was here with me, and thankful to myself that I got that lifeguard when I did.
I wouldn't know what I'd do without her. I wouldn't be the same, I'd feel numb.
That's when it hit me.
"She felt numb because of her fight with us...she felt disconnected from her roots..." I thought as my eyes widened, "God...I promise to never make you feel numb again, Y/N..."
My lips curled down as I held her tighter.
GEORGE:
"I love you, Y/N..." I said quietly.
She giggled.
Y/N:
"I love you too, Gogy."
My cheeks heated up as I smiled widely, shutting my eyes as I held her warm embrace.
My friends were right, this was my last year and I should do what makes me happy. Being with Y/N like this makes me happy. Math can wait, college can wait, my parents can wait...but loving her can't.
