Leaning back on the sofa in Starbucks, I took a huge sigh of relief as I took a sip of my coffee. I looked at Katy, who was sat in her pushchair, grinning at the odd member of staff as they walked past us. “Aren’t you adorable?” I grinned, ruffling her hair softly with my hand.

She shook her head, trying to get me to stop ruffling her hair.

“Aren’t you just like your dad?” I laughed, grabbing a recent magazine from the coffee table as I put my mug of coffee back down.

Flicking the front page open, one article in particular caught my eye. “JUSTIN BIEBER AND SAMMY JONES’ ENGAGEMENT?”

I laughed quietly to myself as I flipped the page over and began to read the article.

“They may have only been together for a matter of weeks but two of the biggest stars in the showbiz world right now are planning on getting hitched this winter! Sammy Jones, 21, was spotted by members of the public walking her nine-month old daughter, Katy, with previous long-term boyfriend, George Shelley from boy band Union J, wearing an engagement ring.”

I looked down at my ring finger and giggled to myself as I saw my mum’s engagement ring that dad had given her twenty years ago - the ring I had worn since my mum gave it to me for my twelfth birthday.

“Oh, they couldn’t be more wrong. Could they?” I smiled to Katy as I lifted her out of the pushchair and propped her up on my lap. “They seriously have no idea.”

“Blah!” she grinned, making funny noises as she looked straight at me.

“Yeah,” I smiled. “Blah blah blah!”

I sat on the sofa for a few more minutes, playing with Katy’s as I finished my coffee off. At ten to eight, I stood up and put Katy back into her pushchair. “Let’s go get daddy!” I grinned to Katy as I clipped her back into the pushchair.

She sat grinning back at me, clapping her hands constantly as I pushed her pushchair out of the Starbucks and into the arrivals’ lounge of the terminal at Heathrow. It didn’t even occur to me that I hadn’t had a wink of sleep in nearly 35 hours - I was overrun with adrenaline to even let the tiredness have an effect on me.

*

Making our way through the terminal towards the gate where George’s flight was due to be landing at, I was amazed at how quiet the whole airport seemed to be. It was 8pm but I still expected more flights to be landing. Once we finally got to the meeting point where I’d told George I’d be, I sat down on a chair and pulled Katy’s pushchair so it was beside me.

“What are you gonna do when you see daddy?” I asked Katy as she looked at me with her big brown eyes.

“YAY!” she grinned, clapping her hands before waving her arms in the air.

I laughed at her as I picked up Mr Bunny as she dropped him on the floor by accident. Passing him back to her, she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly, kissing him continually with a huge grin painted across her little face. “And that’s what I’m gonna do when I see daddy,” I smiled to myself.

“Come on, Katy,” I said, standing up and unclipping her from her pushchair. “Let’s go see daddy’s plane land.”

Carrying Katy in my arms, I walked over to the huge window that ran the length of the terminal, looking over the runway. Stood right in front of the window, I laughed as Katy placed both her hands on the glass and looked out at all the planes in amazement. “Your daddy is on one of these landing,” I smiled, pointing to the plane that was just about to touch down on the runway.

After a few more minutes of watching planes landing and taking off, I carried Katy back over to where I’d left the pushchair and put her back in it, leaving her unclipped. I sat back down on the chair and smiled as the tanoy announced that flight BA538 had just landed – George’s flight. Grabbing hold of my bag from around the handle of Katy’s pushchair, I pulled out my make-up bag and began to reapply some more make-up. I felt as if I was seventeen again, putting more make-up on to make him attracted to me. A little more foundation; a bit more mascara and a lot more lip gloss. After applying more make-up, I put my make-up bag into my bag and grinned at Katy as she looked up at me. “You’re too gorgeous to need make-up yet,” I smiled to her. “And you’ve got 50% of daddy’s DNA so you’ll never need it.”

As I checked my phone to see if George had texted me as soon as he landed like he usually did, I felt something hit me in my face. Looking down, I saw Mr Bunny laid on the floor beside my feet and Katy giggling to herself. “You’re such a little monkey,” I said, picking up Mr Bunny.

“Who’s a little monkey?” I heard a voice say to me as I put Mr Bunny back in Katy’s pushchair with her.

Looking up, I felt a huge smile grow on my face as I saw George stood in front of me.

“I didn’t think you’d be out yet,” I grinned, standing up and throwing my arms around his shoulders.

“I may have given the air hostess an autograph and photo in exchange for getting off the plane first,” George laughed as he wrapped his arms around my waist and held me tightly.

“Tactical,” I giggled, burrowing my head in his chest.

“I’ve been thinking though,” he said, pulling away from me and holding onto my hand as he led me to sit down on the chairs beside Katy’s pushchair.

“What?” I asked, watching him pick Katy up and sit down beside me with her on his knee. “You don’t think us getting back together is a good idea, do you?”

My heart dropped as I looked at him looking at Katy. He shook his head. “I think it’s an amazing idea” he grinned. “But I think it’s best we don’t go back to the apartment for a few days at least since Emma will be coming back soon and she has some stuff at mine that she needs to collect and..”

I interrupted him. “That’s fine,” I smiled.

“We could always get a hotel or something,” he suggested. “Just the three of us.”

“Or you could move in with my mum and Michael for a bit, like we are.”

“You’re moving back home?” he asked.

I shook my head. “Well, yeah, but only for a few weeks until we get stuff sorted as I couldn’t really stay at Justin’s when I’m not with him anymore,” I smiled.

“How did he take it?” George asked nervously.

“Surprisingly well,” I smiled. “How about Emma?”

“Um,” he paused. “Not so well.”

“It doesn’t matter though,” I smiled.

“As long as I’ve got you two, it’s fine,” he grinned, looking straight into my eyes. “It’s more than fine actually. As long as I’ve got my two girls, it’s perfect.”

I nodded with a huge grin across my face. No-one could understand how long I had waited for him to say those words to me. No-one.
