Putting Katy’s arms through the arm holes of her bright pink coat that she loved with all her heart, I smiled at her as she grinned at her reflection.
“She definitely takes after you with her love of clothes,” I laughed to George as he walked through the hallway and into the study.
“I think she takes after you with her lack of fashion though,” George teased, looking at the clothes that Katy had picked out herself to wear from her closet - floral pink leggings with a bright blue dress definitely did not complement one another. I suppose he had a point.
“Shut up,” I grinned as I fastened up the buttons on the front of Katy’s coat to hide the bright blue dress and make her outfit a little more acceptable. “There. My princess won’t be cold now.”
“What’s your plans for the day then?” George asked as he pulled Katy up from the sofa in the study, preventing her from using the cushions as a trampoline.
“Taking this one to the park with Jaymi and then hospital with Chloe for her last scan since Josh can’t go,” I replied.
“New management are complete assholes. I even said I could do the recording just me and then Josh make up for it some other time but they insisted he needed to be there now,” George sighed. “Josh is gutted he’s missing the scan.”
“I suppose they are giving him two months off when the baby gets here so they can’t be that much of assholes,” I grinned. “They gave you three days off.”

Walking side by side, Jaymi pushed Katy in her pushchair as we leisurely made our way around the lake’s perimeter at the local park. We couldn’t help but laugh as Katy kept waving at the ducks as they swam past us, demolishing a mint chocolate chip ice cream as she did so.
“We should do this more often,” Jaymi suggested.
“We should,” I smiled.
“Because you love your walks,” Jaymi grinned to Katy as he peered over the pushchair to see her looking right back up at him with ice cream smothered all around her mouth. “Don’t you?”
Sat on the bench, I watched Jaymi pushing Katy on the swings. I found myself smiling to myself each time Katy swung back towards Jaymi as her little giggle lit up the whole atmosphere. Jaymi looked so happy as he pushed her on the swing. They were both giggling at each other’s company and it melted my heart to watch them.
“Run to mummy!” Jaymi said as he got Katy from the swing’s seat and plonked her down onto her feet on the ground. “Run to mummy, Katy!”
Plodding across the grass, Katy rushed over to me with a huge grin on her face. “Mummy!” she beamed with her arms open as she got closer to me.
She got within metres of where I was sat and tripped up on a stone that was laying on the ground. As she tumbled to the floor, Jaymi ran over and picked her up instantly, bundling her up in his arms. Carrying her over to me, Jaymi made sure she was okay and attempted to stop her crying. After he passed her over to me, I cradled her in my arms and gently swayed her side to side. “Come on, Katy,” I hushed. “Don’t be crying for Uncle Jaymi.”
“I shouldn’t have let her run,” Jaymi said, looking guilty as he watched me calming her down. “I didn’t realise there was a stone on the path. I shouldn’t have told her to run to you.”
“Don’t worry,” I laughed. “She’s nearly two years old. She’s gonna fall over.”
No matter what I said to try and make Jaymi’s guilt go away, he still felt guilty over Katy tripping over.
