I woke up the next day with less of a headache. With the house so quiet, I felt restless without school. I found myself texting Shinso.
To: Shinso
hey would you be
up for hanging
out today?From: Shinso
yeah, I'll come by
your place in a bitTo: Shinso
awesome!!I smiled, setting down my phone before hopping out of bed to get ready. After hanging out with Kirishima, Bakugou, and Kaminari, I was looking forward to being around someone more relaxed. Just as I finished getting ready there was a soft knock.
Opening the door, I smiled at the sight of Shinso. "You ready?"
I nodded at his question and soon we were wandering aimlessly down the street. A comfortable silence fell over us as we walked. I found myself subconsciously watching him until he abruptly stopped, turning to an alleyway.
Confused yet intrigued, I followed him. He dropped to the ground, clicking his tongue softly before pulling—were those cat treats—out of his pocket. I'm no sure whether or not I was surprised when two cats suddenly appeared, head butting the lilac haired teen as he fed them treats.
"You can pet them. They aren't very timid about strangers."
I was startled from my thoughts at his words. Slowly crouching beside him, I hesitantly reached out to pet one. As he said, the cat didn't shy away.
"They're so sweet," I smiled softly, scratching one behind the ear. "Shins-"
He cut me off, not even glancing at me.
"Hitoshi."
"What?"
"You can call me Hitoshi. If you want."
I turned to him with a gentle smile. "Then you can call me [Y/n]."
A soft, genuine smile grew on his face and he nodded lightly. "Okay, [Y/n]."
He gave the cats a few more treats before standing, offering me a hand. "Where to next?"
Standing with his help, I thought for a moment. "How about that cat cafe I took you to?"
He nodded lightly, shoving his hands into his pocket. We ended up staying for hours, playing with the cats and just existing in each others presence.
Soon enough, it was back to school. On the walk to school, I was surprised to be stopped a couple times by people who recognized me from the festival.
Once I reached the school, I found myself looking forward to having normal classes. Reaching the classroom, I overheard that the others had been noticed, too.
As I took my seat, Iida made a beeline for me. "[L/n]! I'd like to apologize for kicking you so hard during the tournament. I had meant to tell you that day but my brother..." He trailed off for a moment.
I gave him a soft smile, "It's okay, Iida. It was a fight, I didn't expect you to hold back. I'm sorry about you're brother. I hope he's doing well."
My blue hair classmate nodded swiftly. "No need to worry! He will recover."
He was cutoff as Aizawa entered the room and dashed to his seat. I was pleased to see he no longer had bandages and appeared to be doing much better.
"Morning." He grumbled. "Today, we've got a special Hero Informatics class." A tension fell over the room.
"You'll be picking out your hero aliases."
The class cheered eagerly. I felt excitement bubble in my chest. This was the kind of thing we've all been thinking of for years. We were quickly reined back in when Aizawa continued.
"But first, regarding the pro draft picks I mentioned the other day..."
He explained it quickly before showing the complete draft pick numbers. "There's typically more of a spread. But our top two stole most of the spotlight."
I was excited to see I had made it onto the board with- My eyes widened and I had to double check. 286 pros were interested in me?!
Aizawa explained we would be getting a chance to work with heroes, whether we were picked or not.
Suddenly, Midnight entered the room. It was explained that she would be in charge of assessing the sensibility of names. We were passed white boards and it was time to pick names.
After a moment of thought, I settled on the name I had been thinking on for years. Writing it carefully, I smiled and waited for the rest of the class.
Soon enough, my classmates were presenting their names. Mina was up first, a triumphant grin stretched across her face.
"Alien Queen!!"
"No."
After hearing some of the others, I was a little self conscious about my decision but it was the one I'd been thinking of for years.
Now that it was my turn to present my hero name, I took a deep breath before holding up my board hesitantly.
Benevolent Hero: Meraki
I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "Its greek. It means 'to do something with soul, creativity, or love; when you leave a piece of yourself in your work.' I like it cause that's what I hope to do as a hero. I want to put my whole heart into it." I smiled softly, looking to the ground.
"It's got a lovely meaning! It suits you!"
I blushed lightly at Midnight's praise. A few of my classmates complimented the name as well before I went back to my seat. I quickly turned my attention back to the others to see Bakugou was up.
"KING EXPLOSION MURDER!"
"No!"
I found myself smothering a laugh. Not a very hero like name.
His glare quickly turned to me. "WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT, BOY SCOUT?!"
I shrugged, barely concealing my grin. "Nothing I guess."
His attention was torn to Kirishima as he offered the name 'Explosion Boy.' He really needs to work on his attitude...
