EDIT: This is posted right after chapter 40 so that means some events haven't happened yet!! Sorry for any confusion!!
The first episode of season 4 wasn't in the manga but since I'm trying to stay on track with canon, here we are!
"A newspaper?"
"Yes. A newspaper wants to do a feature on you all." Aizawa grumbles out, watching us with tired eyes.
I glance around the room to my classmates as they talk excitedly amongst themselves. Having a journalist visit seemed kind of nerve wracking but I suppose that's the life of a hero.
Kaminari pulls me from my thoughts, bumping my shoulder. "It's kind of embarrassing, isn't it?"
"How come?"
Ojiro speaks up with a smile. "The sports festival was broadcast around the country, wasn't it?"
Aizawa is quick to rein everyone in with a tired glare. "Don't get too excited. This article is supposed to be about how you students are doing in the dorms you just moved into. The principal thought it would be good for your parents and guardians to see you all living happily in the dorms, so he gave special permission."
He takes a breath before continuing. "That's why you all must be on your best behavior. Remember what I said about restoring trust..."
An unfamiliar man wanders up beside him with a grin. "You don't have to be like that, Mr. Aizawa. I want to report on the U.A. students in their natural state in the dorms."
I take a moment to look him over. He's tall with a slender build, a wave of brown hair framing his face. Round glasses rest on the bridge of his nose, magnifying his eyes just a little. Though I haven't met many reporters, something tells me he's a nice one.
Our teacher glances over, shaking his head slightly. "Mr. Tokuda, I didn't say you could come in yet-"
"I was told I could be here from 8 am to 6 pm. It's already time." The journalist gestures to his watch with another grin before stepping up to address us. Aizawa eyes him wearily but remains silent as he speaks.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Tokuda, a reporter. Thanks for having me today."
We collectively bow, murmuring a 'nice to meet you' before he continues.
"You don't have to do anything special. Please just show the camera how you normally live. I might ask you questions occasionally, so I'll be counting on you then." He grins happily and I find myself smiling back.
The class breaks back into murmurs and I find myself a little nervous. Pictures are one thing but I'm afraid my words could use some work. Maybe I'll luck out and he won't ask me anything. I glance back up when Aizawa speaks up.
"Iida, if there's a problem, please let me know immediately. Got it?"
"Yes, sir! As the class representative for Class 1-A, I, Tenya Iida, will carry out my duty-"
"Okay, then, um... what would you usually be doing now?"
Iida straightens his back, responding with a salute. "Having breakfast!"
Mr. Tokuda smiles warmly. "You don't have to be so nervous. Just pretend I'm not here..."
Soon, we move onto breakfast and I find myself seated beside Bakugou as usual, quietly eating as Mr. Tokuda takes pictures of the others. I must drift off in my thoughts a little because I'm surprised at the sound of a camera shutter to my left.
Bakugou notices Mr. Tokuda in the same moment I do but reacts a little more viciously. He snarls at the camera, startling the report before turning back to his food. I try to stutter out an apology on his behalf.
"S-Sorry, he's not much of a people person..."
The ashy blond huffs but remains silent as the reporter waves dismissively with a smile. "No worries!"
After getting ready for the day, we head to class as a group. Mr. Tokuda takes several pictures along the way and even during the classes as the day goes by.
During lunch, I make a beeline for my usual table. Hitoshi greets me with a smile before nodding to Tokuda. "What's with the photographer?"
"Oh, he's a reporter doing a piece on how the class has been in the dorms, I guess. He's mainly just taken pictures."
My friend watches him for a moment before turning to me. "Well, he's coming this way."
"What?!"
I look up and, true to my friend's observation, Mr. Tokuda makes his way over to our table. I feel suddenly nervous as he approaches.
Reaching our table, he offers a warm smile to Hitoshi. "My name is Tokuda. I'm a reporter doing a story on 1-A. Would it be alright if I asked your friend a few questions?"
I glance over to Hitoshi who simply shrugs and continues eating his lunch. The reporter drops into a seat with a grin. "Wonderful! Now, [L/n], were you always keen on becoming a Hero?"
I freeze up for a moment before I nod. "Even b-before my quirk developed, I wanted to help people. If I d-didn't make it into the hero course, I planned on becoming a m-medical professional."
"Noble! And you're here now. How has living in the dorms been so far? Was it a rough transition?"
He watches me closely as I think for a moment before coming up with an answer. "Um... its b-been really nice. I like being ar-around so many friends."
The man hums before scribbling on a notepad. When he glances back up, there's another warm smile on his features. "Do you miss living with your parents at all? Or do you enjoy the freedom?"
"Oh, w-well, it's really j-just me and my mom... she's, um, a trauma nurse so I usually had th-the house to myself. Living in the dorms is m-more lively."
"I see. Well, thank you for your time!"
As soon as he left, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. It's quiet for a moment before Hitoshi huffs. "That was a waste of time."
I turn to my friend with a questioning look. "What do you mean?"
"He didn't even write down your answers to his questions. He just crossed you off a list of names."
I turn back to see him taking a few pictures of Sero and Tokoyami. "Maybe his quirk let's him remember things really easy so he doesn't need to write things down."
"I guess."
The day went on without anymore attention on my part and I didn't think too much on Hitoshi's observation. I noticed Mr. Tokuda taking pictures of the more flashy students during hero training and found myself a little grateful for my quirk.
After school, Midoriya said All Might dropped off some meat buns for the class and the reporter left soon after without even a goodbye. No longer being watched, everyone settles more comfortably. We have dinner as usual and life at U.A. goes on.
