"I'll be supervising you boys myself."
I hope I don't look as surprised as I feel though I honestly didn't expect that. We're ordered to change into our hero gear and meet back in front of his office. I fiddle with my cloak for a moment before popping back and Endeavor begins.
"But before we start... you three gotta tell me about yourselves. I don't know much about you. What are you working on now? Tell me what you wanna achieve."
Midoriya speaks up first, meeting pro's eyes determinedly. "I want control over my power and to have freedom of movement while even at max performance."
Endeavor looks him over for a moment. "You've got... super strength that wrecks your own body, right?"
"Yes. I discovered a method to manage it without hurting myself but... I've, uh... reached the point where... how do I put this...? I've got, like... a secondary power... where it manifests in a different form."
"Show me."
Midoriya holds out his arm for a moment and a black tendril appears, similar to the ones from the training exercise but smaller.
"By really focusing, I can juuust manage this much... but that's all I can handle for now. If I let any more out, I lose control."
While Midoriya continues to explain his power, I struggle to figure out what to tell about myself. What am I working on? What do I want to achieve?
I'm startled from my thoughts as one of the interns jump out of nowhere.
"Too long! I'm lost!"
Todoroki shrugs. "He's analyzing himself, I guess."
"So... you're hoping to make that tricky balancing act feel like second nature."
"Yes."
"You've suffered due to your quirk. So... you're one of us..."
One of us?
He turns to Bakugou.
"Next up is you."
The blond glances to Midoriya. "Unlike him, I came here to figure out... what I can't do."
"Ooh! Big talk, little man!" The sidekick bursts into laughter and Bakugou bristles.
"Cram it! Why're you even here?!"
"I'm on standby."
The ashy blond growls, looking off to the side. "I'm serious, dammit. My explosion... can pull off anything I want it to! I've only got that one quirk, but it's totally the strongest! But then I learned that a strong quirk's not enough to make me the strongest guy around."
He looks up, hitting his chest. "To surpass number one... I came to find out what I'm missing."
"Sure."
Then his gaze turns to me.
"And you. Why are you here?"
I freeze. Why am I here? What could he possibly teach me? I shouldn't have come! There's nothing- I suddenly remember the attack from earlier today. He knew before anyone else. We weren't even close enough to see or hear it and he still knew.
I take a deep breath before I force myself to meet his eyes. "I- I know you end up at most incidents. Disasters, attacks..." I trail off, trying to get my thoughts in order.
"I want to be able to know when something happens before anyone else so I can get people out before it gets bad. Like how you did earlier. You knew something was happening before I could even hear the attack. I... I need to be able to do that."
There's a moment where he simply watches me. Then-
"I can work with that. Let's get to it."
He turns and starts towards the door but I pause at the sound of Todoroki.
"Ahem. And me?"
Endeavor spins around, yelling and I find myself stepping towards Bakugou nervously.
"YOU'RE HERE TO MASTER FLASHFIRE, SHOTO!"
"All the quirk training you beat into me as a kid... I've put it into practice with my right side." He glances down at his hand, thoughtful for a moment, but I pause at the wording.
Beat?
"Thinking back, it's no wonder, since I couldn't escape my own hatred of you. Then I got into U.A. and... competing along side these two..." He nods to Bakugou and Midoriya. "And everyone else... really opened my eyes."
Hatred? Why would he...?
"Endeavor... after everything... I'm gonna do what you always wanted. But please understand... the man I admire is the one mom and I watched on the tv back then. As a fledgling hero... in order to become a man worthy of the title... I came here of my own free will! I'm here to use you for my own reasons. Sorry this isn't going how you want, number one. So let's stop that father-son crap in front of my friends."
"Right."
Soon, we're back on the streets, following after Endeavor as he begins our first lesson of many. "I'll be watching over you four as a hero. Rescue. Evacuation. Battle. People come to heroes for those three basic things."
He glances over his shoulder and I'm a little surprised to find myself meeting his gaze, clinging to his every word.
"Normally, when a hero sets up an agency, he decides whether to emphasize rescue or battle. One or the other. My agency isn't picky. We tackle all three.
You gotta know your home turf like the back of your hand so that you pick up on the smallest disturbances. You gotta get to the scene faster than anyone. Keep damage to a minimum... and if civilians get close, blast some heat to make 'em back off.
That's your starting point. Keep all that in mind while acting at top speed. And make those processes your m.o. Think about what you're building up as you go.
At U.A... its effort.
And here... it's experience.
You need a mountain's worth... so your job here is to conquer that experience barrier. This winter, show me that you can... just once, beat a villain faster than me!"
Beat a villain faster than the number one hero?
This, I realize, is going to be our most difficult experience yet but, looking to the others' determined expressions, I know we can do it. We have to.

I'm really looking forward to see how this arc progresses!
There's a ton of possibilities!
Also I just wanted to say-
I love it when you all leave comments! Even little things where you just say what part you liked! It gives me motivation!
