After we get our stuff, the boys are led to one room and the girls to another. Kirishima turns to me after looking around the room, "Did you sleep in here during the internship?"
I glance up from my bag, "No, they had a normal room set up. I wasn't really shown around the facility though, we mainly just trained."
"Oh. What's with the whole 'kitten' thing?"
I feel myself blush lightly, "Oh um- since they're The Pussycats, my codename was Kitten so I'd match... but they call everyone younger than them kitten."
"So if it's your codename should I be calling you Kitten now or what?" He teased, drawing attention from the other boys.
I spluttered, waving my hands frantically. "Shut up! N-no! It was just for the internship- its not an official title or anything!"
Kaminari wanders over, laughing. "I don't know [L/n], sounds pretty official to me. I mean The Pussycats gave you that name. Its a big honor." If not for the stupid grin on his face, I'd almost think he was serious.
I cover my face with my hands, groaning dramatically. "You guys are awful!"
After some more teasing, we made our way to the dining hall. Kirishima and Kaminari immediately begin eating, practically raking the food into their mouths. I decide to eat at a far less worrying pace.
"Don't choke yourselves!"
"But [N/n], it's just so good!"
Soon, I find myself in the bath with the rest of the boys. I sit quietly with my eyes closed, off by myself, the warm water lulling me into a peaceful state. I listen to Kaminari splashing around across the bath when I feel the water shift as someone sits on my right.
I look over to see Bakugou, glare seemingly embedded in his eyes. I turn away quickly, not wanting to piss him off, when he speaks suddenly.
"So... should I be calling you Boyscout or Kitten?"
I hear Kaminari and Kiri's laughter begin as I cover my face, desperately trying to hide what surely is a blush glowing across my cheeks.
"Ne-neither! What's with you guys?! She called the whole class kittens!"
"Yeah, but you were Kitten!" Kaminari grinned cheekily.
Iida speaks up, "Is that an insult?"
Before I can respond, Kiri is suddenly on my left, covering my mouth. "No! It's a codename The Pussycats gave him!"
"Ah, I see. So we should adhere to their principles? When does the codename apply? Perhaps I should ask..."
I frantically try to pull Kiri's hand away but Kaminari is quick with his response. "Oh yeah, definitely Iida! Go ask!" In seconds, he's gone and many of the boys are left shaking with laughter.
"Kiri!" I whine, tugging his arm away. "God- what if they say yes?" I mumble into my hands.
Kaminari wheezes, "Then we get to call you Kitten!" He quickly dissolves into laughter again.
Iida soon arrives back, chopping his arms dramatically.
"We cannot call [L/n], kitten."
At his words, I cover my face again.
"I have been informed by Pixie Bob that she called 'dibs' during his internship. We are to just use his hero name!"
Kaminari and Kiri are suddenly laughing harder, if it's even possible.
I'm immensely grateful when we're sent to bed, the teasing over with. I bury myself under my blanket, drifting off quickly. All too soon though, we're woken up.
"Good morning, everyone."
We find ourselves standing outside, barely clinging to awareness as the sun rises.
"Today we begin a rigorous round of reinforcement training." Aizawa-sensei goes on to explain the purpose of the trip, that this is to help us get our temporary licenses quicker.
He tosses Bakugou the ball from the quirk appreciation test. Thinking back, it feels like that was a lifetime ago.
"Let's see how much you've improved."
Suddenly brimming with energy, the blond grins before launching the ball dramatically. Beep. The entire class gapes at the score.
"In three months, you have all gained a lot of experience. And of course, you have grown." He crosses to stand in front of us all. "But that has been primarily emotional and technical. Now we'll concentrate on physical advancement."
He gestures to Bakugou, "As you can see, your quirks themselves have only improved, at best, by a marginal amount. So starting today, we will focus on upgrading your quirks. I will be pushing you beyond your limits," a grin creeps over his features. "So try not to kick the bucket on me..."
By the time class 1-B joins us, we've already begun. Similar to my internship, I am teleporting nonstop. What differs is I am popping up and down a mountainside. Getting down is the easy part. To get up, though, I pop onto the side of the mountain and slide down to the ridge.
It's meant to make it possible to pop even places I can't see directly. Though the sudden changes in altitude is giving me a headache, I remain completely focused on my task.
Hours later, we trudge back to the facility, exhausted from our rigorous training. We arrive to a table covered in vegetables, spices, and other ingredients.
"Now, I told you yesterday, 'Today's the last day we help you out!!' If you want to eat, get off your asses and make it yourself!! Curry!!!"
Despair falls over us all, the day apparently not over. "Yes ma'am...."
"Hahaha everybody's looking pretty worn out!! Not an excuse for a sloppy job, though!"
As usual, it seems Iida finds deeper meaning to a normal statement. "Correct... In the case of an emergency, feeding the hungry and providing sustenance to the mind and body is an essential part of... providing aid..."
He leaps into the air, gesturing wildly. "These pros are correct! Let's make the world's best curry!"
Very quickly, everyone is cooking. I find myself struggling with a lighter when a shadow falls over me.
"Would you like me to light that for you?"
I glance up to see Todoroki, he looks to the fireplace then back to me.
"Oh um yeah, that'd be really helpful... I'm uh bad with lighters... thank you."
He nods once before reaching down to light it, flames dancing along his hand.
"Your fire's really pretty..." I murmur quietly.
A nearly invisible smile graced his features at my words. "Yes, I suppose it is."
