SO I GOT INSPO FOR THIS, BC I ALWAYS DO MY HOMEWORK WITH MY HAIR DOWN, AND LIKE IT GETS IN THE WAY AND THEN EVENTUALLY I TIE IT INTO A BRAID.
Sophie was lying on Keefe's chest, absorbed in her homework. The soft light of the lamp cast shadows around the room as she scribbled away, her focus intense. Keefe smiled softly, watching her, not really paying attention to the assignments in front of him. His hand rested lazily on her back, the warmth of her pressing against his bare stomach making his heart race a little faster than he expected.
Every time she moved, her hair fell across her face, and she would absentmindedly push it away, her fingers brushing the strands behind her ear. Keefe watched the motion, fascinated by the way she always seemed to do it without thinking.
He reached out, brushing a few strands away for her, and his hand lingered, tracing the soft waves of her hair.
"You're always doing that," he murmured, his voice low.
Sophie looked up at him, blinking for a second as if trying to catch up with the moment. "Doing what?"
"Brushing your hair out of your face," Keefe said, grinning a little. "It's cute."
Sophie rolled her eyes, but there was a soft blush on her cheeks. "I can't help it. It always gets in the way."
Keefe smiled, his thumb brushing against the back of her neck. In one swift motion, he flipped them so that Sophie was now lying on her back, eyes wide with surprise as she looked up at him.
"Hey!" she laughed, her cheeks flushed with the sudden change in position.
"You're always brushing it," Keefe repeated with a grin, settling himself on his side, leaning over her. "Let me help."
Sophie raised an eyebrow but didn't protest, letting him gently pull some of her hair away from her face. Keefe smiled as he slipped her hair tie off her wrist, the little movement almost intimate in its own way. He threaded his fingers through her hair, enjoying the feel of the soft strands slipping between his fingers.
"Relax," he murmured as she tensed, unsure of what he was doing. Sophie settled back against the pillow, watching him curiously.
Keefe began to braid her hair slowly, weaving the strands together with a delicate, careful touch. The rhythm of his movements was soothing, and he found himself lost in the simple, intimate act of braiding her hair. It was a small thing, but it felt meaningful, as if it was another way of showing just how deeply he cared for her.
"Your hair is pretty," he said quietly, his lips curling into a soft smile.
Sophie's cheeks flushed even more at his words, and she tilted her head slightly, trying to hide the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "How do you know how to braid?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Keefe's fingers hesitated for a moment, but he didn't stop weaving the strands together. "My grandma taught me," he said, his voice softer now, a little more vulnerable. "She wasn't like my parents. She was nice. She... cared."
Sophie's eyes softened, her gaze moving over him as she processed his words. She didn't say anything for a moment, simply let him finish braiding her hair, the silence comfortable between them.
Keefe finished the braid, tying the end gently, and then leaned down to place a soft kiss on the strands of her hair. His lips lingered for a moment longer than necessary, savoring the closeness, the way her warmth seemed to radiate through him.
When he pulled back, he met her gaze, his fingers still gently holding the braid. "Done."
Sophie's eyes shone with something unspoken, a mix of gratitude and affection. She reached up to touch the braid, a soft smile playing on her lips. "I love it," she whispered.
Keefe leaned down, pressing his forehead to hers, a quiet laugh escaping him. "I'm glad you like it."
Sophie closed her eyes, her heart beating just a little bit faster than usual, her chest rising and falling with each breath as Keefe's presence surrounded her.
"I'll always take care of you, Sophie," he whispered, as if the words were a promise, one that he would always keep.
Sophie's eyes fluttered open, her lips curving into a smile as she whispered back, "I know you will."
