Keefe chuckled, his lips meeting hers once more, this time a little softer, more tender. But the softness didn't last long before it was back to something deeper, more urgent. They were lost in each other, caught in the whirlwind of quick kisses and heated touches.
Keefe pulled back slightly, his eyes scanning Sophie's face with a mixture of curiosity and something deeper, more intense. "Why do you only wanna hook up at my place?" he murmured, his voice low and teasing.
Sophie paused, her breath hitching slightly at his question. Her mind went quiet for a moment, her thoughts swirling like a quiet storm. She wanted to give him an honest answer, but the truth was a little more complicated than she expected.
In her room, the one she'd lived in for as long as she could remember, everything had always been safe, predictable. It was where she had grown up, where she had first learned about life, love, and the complicated feelings that came with them. It had always been just her, surrounded by the things that made her feel grounded. She knew every inch of it—the soft throw on her bed, the books that lined the shelves, the framed pictures on her walls.
But that wasn't what she wanted to feel when she was with him.
When they were in her room, Sophie couldn't help but feel like it would always be the room where she was Sophie. The girl who hadn't yet realized what it meant to love and be loved. It would feel... strange. Almost like she couldn't fully let go of the old version of herself, the girl who wasn't so sure about everything, who wasn't so sure about him.
But Keefe's room?
Keefe's room was where she could shed all of that. She could forget about who she used to be, who she thought she was supposed to be. It was where she could simply be Sophie with him. When she stepped inside, the world outside seemed to disappear. There was something about him, about his presence, about the way he looked at her, that made her feel like she could be completely, unapologetically herself.
The moment she walked in and saw him—those muscles, the way his shirt clung to his chest, the way his eyes always seemed to soften when they met hers—she knew she was lost. Lost in him. In the way he made her feel like the only thing that mattered was the two of them. Lost in the way he kissed her, how his hands seemed to know exactly where to touch, how his presence enveloped her in a way no one else could.
It wasn't about the room itself. It was about them.
She didn't need to explain it out loud, though. He would understand. Keefe always seemed to understand.
Sophie smiled softly, her eyes locking with his. "I like it here," she finally said, her voice soft, almost shy. "I like being with you... like this. Just us."
Keefe's grin deepened, the corners of his lips curling as he leaned down to kiss her again, this time deeper, almost as if he had been waiting for her to say exactly that. Sophie let herself melt into him, feeling everything fade away as their lips met again, and all that was left was the two of them, caught in the warmth of the moment.
