SO I MAY HAVE ALOT OF DRAFTS...BUT INCLUDING THEM THIS IS PART 100!! SO HAPPY, 100 OVER PART IN LESS THAN A MONTH
Sophie had barely been able to keep her eyes open for more than a few minutes, the exhaustion and fever leaving her feeling like she was in a fog. She hadn't even realized that Keefe had moved from his spot until she felt his hand gently touch her shoulder, bringing her back to reality.
"Hey," Keefe's voice was soft, but there was a playful edge to it. "Time for some medicine, Foster. You need to take it if you want to feel better."
Sophie groaned, barely managing to lift her head. "I don't want it. I'll just sleep it off," she mumbled, her voice thick with exhaustion.
Keefe raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth quirking up in that familiar, teasing way. "I'm afraid that's not how it works. You're going to take the medicine whether you like it or not."
Sophie glared at him weakly, but there was no real fire behind it. She felt too drained to even argue.
"Come on, let's get you better so you can get back to being your awesome, normal self. We both know you don't like being sick," he said, coaxing her with that determined, gentle voice that made it hard to argue.
Sophie sighed and reluctantly let Keefe help her sit up. She felt so wobbly, but Keefe kept his hand on her back, steadying her as she slowly adjusted to sitting upright.
"Here's the deal," he said, opening the bottle of medicine in his hand and holding it up with a small grin. "You take this, and then I'll give you some more water and maybe a snack if you're feeling brave enough."
Sophie blinked, her heavy eyelids struggling to stay open. "Are you bribing me with snacks?" she asked, her voice dry.
Keefe's grin grew wider. "It's a carefully calculated plan to make sure you don't give me too much grief."
Sophie rolled her eyes, though her lips twitched in amusement. "Fine. But I'm blaming you if this tastes like garbage."
Keefe laughed, his tone light but fond as he poured the medicine into the spoon. "You're not getting out of this that easily." He gently lifted the spoon to her lips, giving her a moment to adjust. "Ready?"
Sophie made a face, staring at the liquid like it was some kind of poison. "Do I look ready?"
Keefe chuckled and leaned closer, his thumb gently brushing over the back of her hand. "You're going to feel so much better after this," he said softly, his gaze steady as he offered the spoon once again.
With a resigned sigh, Sophie parted her lips and allowed him to feed her the medicine. The taste was as bad as she had expected, but the softness in Keefe's eyes made it easier to swallow—literally and figuratively.
When she finished, she gave him a weak smile, clearly trying to keep the grumbling to herself.
"There, you're a trooper," Keefe praised, his voice light and teasing as he placed the empty spoon aside. "See? That wasn't so bad."
Sophie stuck out her tongue in a mock display of disgust. "I'll never forgive you for that."
Keefe just smirked, running his fingers through her hair before pulling her back down gently onto the pillows. "Good thing you're not really mad, then," he teased. "I'm gonna keep taking care of you, no matter how much you complain."
Sophie settled back onto the pillows, feeling a little more relaxed now that the medicine was working its way through her system. She rested her head on the pillow and let out a small sigh, but this time it wasn't out of discomfort—it was out of contentment.
Keefe was already preparing the water, holding the glass up to her lips with the same gentle touch. Sophie let herself drink it in small sips, letting the cool liquid soothe her sore throat.
"You're making me feel better already," she whispered, her voice still hoarse.
Keefe smiled, his eyes softening. "That's the plan," he said quietly. He wasn't trying to be funny or cute; there was just an undeniable sincerity in his words. "I'm here for you. Always."
Sophie's heart fluttered at the words, and despite the fever clouding her thoughts, she felt a deep, undeniable warmth spread through her chest. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting herself be enveloped by his presence and the peaceful comfort of being cared for.
"Thank you, Keefe," she said, her voice soft and a little shaky. "I don't think I've ever needed someone like this before."
Keefe's grin softened into something gentler. He reached out and brushed a few strands of hair from her face before cupping her cheek in his palm. "You've always had me, Sophie. You just didn't always let yourself realize it."
Sophie's breath caught for a second, but she didn't pull away. She just let herself relax further into the moment. With Keefe by her side, everything felt just a little bit easier.
He lowered his hand after a moment, but the feeling of being safe and cared for stayed with her.
"I'm not going anywhere, you know," Keefe whispered. "Just rest. I've got you."
Sophie closed her eyes again, her body finally relaxing into the blankets as her fever started to ease. She had no idea when she fell asleep, but Keefe's gentle presence never left her side, and the warmth of his care surrounded her through the entire night.
