Sophie smiled as the waiter set their chocolate milkshake between them, complete with two straws. Across the table, Keefe smirked, twirling one between his fingers.
"I suppose I can let you have your own straw this time, Foster," he teased, tapping the rim of the glass. "But only because I'm feeling generous."
Sophie rolled her eyes, nudging the milkshake toward herself. "Oh, how kind of you, Lord Hunkyhair."
Keefe leaned forward, resting his chin on his palm. "You could've just called me sweet, you know."
Sophie raised an eyebrow as she took a sip, savoring the cold, rich chocolate taste. "You're not sweet."
Keefe gasped dramatically, clutching his heart. "How dare you?" He immediately took a sip from his straw, staring her down. "I am at least as sweet as this milkshake."
Sophie smirked, shaking her head. "You wish."
Keefe hummed, studying her. Then, ever so casually, he kicked her under the table.
Sophie jolted. "Keefe!"
His smirk widened. "What? My foot slipped."
She narrowed her eyes at him, but he just leaned forward and took another slow sip. His blue eyes twinkled mischievously over the rim of the glass.
They sat there, sipping from their straws at the same time, their faces barely a foot apart.
Keefe's gaze softened slightly as he watched her.
"You're staring," Sophie murmured, tilting her head.
"Can you blame me?" he murmured back, voice lower than before. "You look cute drinking my favorite milkshake."
Sophie felt warmth spread through her. "It's our milkshake."
Keefe tapped his straw against hers playfully. "Yeah, yeah. Just don't be surprised if I take a little more than my share."
Sophie huffed but couldn't stop the smile tugging at her lips.
And when Keefe caught her looking at his lips, he leaned in slightly, voice dropping even lower.
"Sweet enough for you yet, Foster?"
Her breath caught for half a second before she rolled her eyes—then leaned across the table and kissed him.
Keefe made a small, satisfied noise before kissing her back, the taste of chocolate lingering between them.
When they pulled apart, Keefe licked his lips, grinning.
"Yeah," he whispered, eyes locked on hers. "I think you're sweeter than the milkshake."
