Sophie had spent the last three days in an absolute haze. She barely ate, barely slept, and barely spoke to anyone. Her friends had tried everything to cheer her up—Biana suggested a shopping spree, Dex attempted to bribe her with gadgets, and Marella straight-up threatened to set something on fire if she didn't snap out of it. But none of it worked.
Because Keefe was gone.
And she hated that it hurt this much.
She curled up in bed, her blankets wrapped around her like a cocoon, staring blankly at the ceiling. The moonlight streamed through her window, casting soft shadows across her room.
Then she heard it.
The faintest creak.
Sophie bolted upright just as a familiar figure stepped out of the shadows.
"Miss me, Foster?" Keefe's voice was quiet, almost hesitant.
Her heart clenched. Anger flared in her chest, but so did something else—relief, longing.
She scowled. "What are you doing here?"
Keefe exhaled, running a hand through his hair. He looked... exhausted. "I made a mistake."
Sophie scoffed, crossing her arms. "Oh, you think?"
"I thought I was protecting you," he said, stepping closer. "I thought breaking up would keep you safe, but I was an idiot. Because being without you? That's worse than anything else."
Sophie narrowed her eyes. "So you just decided to show up in my room and fix everything?"
"Yeah," he said shamelessly, taking another step toward her.
That was when she smacked him.
Not hard enough to actually hurt, but enough to make him stumble back with a dramatic "Ow, Foster!"
While he was still doubling over, she grabbed the front of his shirt, yanked him down, and kissed him.
Keefe froze for a second before melting into it, his hands finding her waist, pulling her flush against him like he never wanted to let go again.
She broke the kiss first, her lips still brushing against his as she whispered, "Yeah. I'll stay with you."
Keefe breathed out a relieved laugh, resting his forehead against hers. "That was kinda hot," he admitted.
She rolled her eyes but smiled anyway. "Shut up, Sencen."
But when he kissed her again, she didn't protest.
