Chapter 64

She clears her throat," how was your friendship like?".

" Great . We talked about everything".

" You have nothing bad to say about your friendship ?".

" None ".

" What did you hate about her ?. Let me rephrase what do you hate about her?".

" Her selfishness ".

" That's it ?,is that her only flaw ".

" To me ,yes. I was always sacrificing myself for her she never took notice even once ".

" Sacrifice?, What ?".

" My time , my efforts, my energy and my life in general ".

My mind recollects all those days that he ' sacrificed' for me , he'd skip school to comfort me after my breakups, always insisted on driving me to school even though I had my own driver , he'd do my homework 80 percent of the time , I got so used to him doing things for me I never took it to heart, I abused his kindness at some point, whenever I was in need he was the first person I'd call and I knew he'd drop whatever he was doing for me -no matter how important it was .

" 'your life ' ,Do you think that's where your hatred started?, When you were still friends?".

He chuckles ," hatred ?. I don't hate her ".

This time Andrew is quiet ," I'm not referring to the current moment but before ".

" I've never ever in my life hated my wife , I could never " his voice trails off.

" I'm certain you are aware that is what she thinks. Which is correct from where I'm standing , I have seen a case like yours before slightly different but more or less the same . I think I know where this is heading but I'd still like to hear it from you, if you don't hate your wife then what is the feeling you have towards her? ".

He doesn't answer .

" We'll come back to this question no worries. How did you feel when you lifted that veil and it was not your fiance'?".

" Like the world was ending ".

" How did you deal with that ?".

He keeps quiet again but Andrew seems patient enough," did you swear to never forgive her ? ".

" What about when she brought her back ?" .

" I felt betrayed again ".

" You didn't want her back?".

" No ".

" But why'd you start something with her ?".

" I thought it could work , convinced myself to try to not guess the future and just take the road to see where it leads ".

" So You were already no longer attracted to her ? , Tell me all about her return, what happened that day ".

He clears his throat," It was a big day for the company, I ord... ordered Lauren to clean the house before she came to work , she arrived late with a heavy perfume scent that choked all the board members .I don't know how I felt that day, she's the first person I wanted to tell about the deal but at the same time I was.... I couldn't and I uh felt frustrated and  Almost hit her .I think she brought Sarah back out of fear For my rage towards her".

" You admitting to your rage but you say you don't hate her?".

" Rage doesn't mean hate "he draws the line between the two.

" Tell me about Sarah then , do you love her ?"

" No " he says blatantly.

" But you did at some point?".

" No . I've never been in love with her.I hoped to".

" Then why did you date her ?, Because your best friend suggested it ?".

" Yes ".

" Does she know that ?".

" Who ?".

" Your wife ".

" No ".

" From what I'm getting you cared a lot about what Lauren thought, her feelings and just all that had to do with her , Mr Price why would you date someone you are not attracted to ?, I thought you didn't find Ms Sarah attractive now but you are saying it has always been like that . Lauren , your every answer points back to Lauren . The day you almost hit her , How'd you feel ?".

" Horrible, I tried justifying my anger but I couldn't be at peace ".

" Mr Price , you are not being honest, why did you want to hit her ?, The root of that rage wasn't the perfume or the crap about how she was the first person you wanted to tell , what was it . What is it ? . In simple terms what did you want from your wife?"

He remains still .

" If you don't answer me Mr Price I can guarantee that this session is over and you will not find a much more skilled therapist than me and the relationship you are trying to fix will not see the light of day, she threatens him in a stable tone . how  do you expect me to help you when you are not being completely honest , Lauren is not here ,she will not know about the conversations we are having here , I need to understand where the real issue is and you are far from making any progress,with every couple I've worked with you are the least I have any sort of hope for but we still have to try don't we ?, Your wife loves you so much it is killing her but she doesn't even know it ,not being able to open up to you is piercing the sword further into her heart , do you want to kill her ?".

" Of course not " he mutters.

" Then that means you'll cooperate ? ,please be sure to remember that you came to me not the other way around.... So then I'll ask again, why would you date someone you don't like only because Lauren asked you ? , what is it about Lauren that makes you want to give in to her demands like that all the time?, What did you want from her ?" .

" To love me ".

I step on the clutch almost hitting my head on the steering wheel.

" Why ?".

" Because.... I've loved her " .
