Barry

Right before my very eyes, a getaway car had flown above me, and then crashed into the street. Finn hang limp in my arms, and she looked like she was dead; hell, she felt like she was dead. “Finn,” I whispered touching her face in an attempt to wake her up, but she was cold.

Then, I quickly pieced together what had just happened; the car flew above us and crashed into the street just as Finn fell into unconsciousness, and last night she had told me strange things had been happening to her after the particle accelerator exploded.

            Holy shit.

I picked up Finn’s limp body bridal style, and began to run as fast as I could to Star-Labs. This wasn’t normal, and I don’t think any normal doctor would be able to help her.

The world became a blur around me, and I quickly entered the lab of Star-Labs. Caitlin was sitting at her desk munching away at her yogurt, and when she noticed me her eyes grew large and she exclaimed, “Oh my god, Barry! What happened?”

Flustered, Barry panicked, “Date, car, she fell unconscious; it’s a long story!”

Caitlin jogged over to the medical lab door, unlocked it, and turned the light on; in the back portion of the small room was a hospital bed equipped with everything Caitlin could ever need—I was attached to that bed for nine months after I had been struck by lightning.

“Lay her down here,” Caitlin commanded, as she rummaged through the metal cabinets pulling out various equipment that I had no idea what could do. I ran across the room, and laid Finn down onto the bed—her skin had a slight blue hue.

I backed away, and Caitlin started to give a quick but thorough assessment of Finn; she checked her heartbeat, breathing, and felt how cold her skin was. Then, she turned on the grey machine that was to the right of the bed, and placed an oxygen tube into her nose. Next, Caitlin turned on the heart rate monitor—I knew which one that was!—and placed sticky electrodes all over Finn’s chest.

Caitlin stepped away from the bed with a look of relief, and that immediately made me feel a lot better. “She’ll be ok,” Caitlin explained, “Her oxygen levels were really low, which caused her to faint, but she’ll be fine.”

A smile spread upon my face, and I placed my hands behind my head as I happily stated, “Oh thank god.”

Caitlin walked over to me with her arms crossed over her chest, and she curiously said, “I want to hear this ‘long story’.”

We walked out of the medical lab and back to Caitlin’s desk so that we could monitor Finn through the glass, and Caitlin sat back down at her desk intently waiting for me to tell the story. Before I told the story, I grabbed the chair from Cisco’s desk, so that I could have a comfortable place to sit.

“Well,” I explained, “Like I told you over text, that’s Finn. I was invited to this party yesterday, so I went. When I was standing in the living room, I accidentally ran into Finn, and then we started talking out in the back yard. She’s such a nice girl and she’s so ridiculously intelligent, not to mention beautiful,” Caitlin had her hands covering her face and she was squealing, and I asked with a laugh, “What?”

“Nothing, keep going,” Caitlin grinned.

I smiled, and continued with the story, “Once midnight hit we kissed, kissed some more, and both of us decided to go back to her place. We took a taxi back to her apartment, and yeah . . . did some stuff. Once we woke up, I took Finn on a coffee date, and she agreed to get dinner with me tomorrow night. Then, we left Jitters, and as we were walking down the street this car was speeding towards us,” I took a deep breath as I began to remember all of the horrifying details, “When the car was not even ten feet away from us, it flew over us, went into a spiral, and crashed onto the street; Finn fainted right after that.”
