Caitlin walked back into the Cortex with Jax later that day, since she had apologized and convinced him to join us—also Hewitt was trying to kill us all.
I stood next to Stein's bedside quickly putting the finishing touches on the new splicer, and Cisco explained to Caitlin, holding the tachyon battery, "This ran out of power like thirty minutes ago."
"His temperature is 142 degrees and rising fast," Barry stated.
She explained, "We need to start rapid oxidation, we need a coolant."
I stated, "It's too late for that."
Jax nodded his head. "I'll do it. I'll merge with him. You said that this was a chance for me to be a part of something bigger than myself, to help people. That's what I want."
"You're sure?" Barry replied, "Once you merge there's no going back on this."
Jax chuckled. "You said I could fly, right?"
"Damn right," Cisco replied.
"So what do I do?" Jax asked.
I picked up the splicer, and explained, "Um well, here's the abridged version:" We went into the Cortex so we could have more room. "This is my new splicer; it's not perfect, but if you break it I will kill you."
I placed the splicer onto his chest and turned it on. Barry and Caitlin helped Stein walk to Jax, and Stein stated happily, "You came back, Jefferson."
"Well, like my coach always said, 'Out of yourself and into the team.'" Jax grinned. "So, how does this work?"
I explained, "Okay, all you've got to do is touch him."
"And then what happens?" Jax asked.
"You become Firestorm," Caitlin replied.
Jax nodded his head, and ever so slightly touched Stein's hand. Glowing flames engulfed both of their bodies, and the two men became one.
Cisco and I both shouted, "Yes!" at the same time, and high-fived.
"So when can we take this for a test spin?" Jax/Stein asked.
The monitor at Cisco's desk started beeping, and he quickly went to go check it. "Uh, it looks like now," he explained, "Hewitt's recharging at Central City High School's football stadium."
Barry changed into his suit, and they both were off.

I sat at a table at Jitters trying to work on a thesis paper for school, and my topic was using particle accelerators for time travel. My professors told me that they didn't expect anything less crazy from one of Harrison Wells' workers.
But it works. I've seen it happen with Barry running at twice the speed of sound, but the rest of us can't do that. In comes the "Speed Cannon". It's basically an MRI machine supercharged with electrons that repels metal instead of attracting it.
If I can get it to launch a person at Mach 2 and collide with the hydrogen particle at exactly the same time......Time travel.
God, why stop there? I could modify it for interdimensional travel.
My phone dinged on the table next to my coffee cup, breaking me from my trance; it was a text from Barry: Look outside.
I looked up from my computer to see Barry in his Flash suit standing at the stairs in front of Jitters grinning at me. He waved, and I smiled at him. Quickly, I packed my things up into my backpack, and put my hat on since it was cold outside.
I exited Jitters, holding my coffee cup, but behind Barry was a massive shark-man.
The shark-man grabbed hold of Barry's head, and brought him close to his rows of sharp teeth. I dropped my coffee cup onto the ground, and sprinted across the street to Barry.
"Zoom wants you dead!" the shark-man said in gruff, menacing voice.
I mumbled to myself, "Oh my god its Kisame." I dug around in my purse for the gun I bought, and then pointed it at the shark-man.
"Let him go, Kisame!" I yelled at the beast, as if a barely five foot six human would do anything to stop him.
Shark-man dropped Barry straight to the ground, and laughed at me. He marched toward me still laughing at my poor aim while I shot at him.
Then, the trigger clicked. "Shit, shit, shit," I mumbled.
Suddenly, the shark-man roared out in pain, and fell to the ground surrounded in a blue lightning veil. Standing on top of the platform was a hooded man holding a large gun, and even in the darkness I swear he looked like. . . Never mind.
Barry ran after the man with the gun, and I followed behind as quickly as my human legs could carry me.
Running up the stairs, I heard Barry ask the man franticly, "Who the hell are you?" At the top of the platform, I could see Barry stand in front of . . . oh my god . . .
Eobard.
I dropped my gun to the ground, and sprinted as fast as I could to him. Before Eobard even knew what was going on, my arms were wrapped around his neck, and my face was buried in his neck. Eobard hugged me back for only a second, because he realized who I was.
He pushed me off of his torso, and grumbled, "Get off me."
"What?" I asked in shock.
He gruffly replied, "I'm not who you think I am."
