"Good weird or bad weird?" Cisco asked, flipping through the pages of a book about speed. "Cause that word goes either way around here."
I transferred my algorithm onto the main screen in the Cortex, next to Barry's suit, and I used a laser pointed I grabbed from Cisco's desk to explain, "So I was running some comparative data on Barry, Eobard, and Zoom, and it seems that all three of you are moving your legs at about the same speed."
Barry stood in front of the monitor, trying to understand the data, and he asked, confused, "Then why are they so much faster than me?"
"From what the data is showing me, with each stride their feet spend less time on the ground, which propels them forward much faster," I explained, demonstrating with the laser pointer.
Barry grumbled, very frustrated, "By almost thirty percent. Great." He turned around, putting one on my books back on my desk. "Well, I've got to makeup that difference somehow."
He sat back down at his work station, sorting through his pile of books, very upset with what the data was telling him. He knew it, I knew it, but I still needed to make sure he understood what that meant.
I walked to Barry's workstation, placing my hand on his back. "Barry," I sighed, knowing that I would make him upset, "The reason you aren't able to get faster than Zoom and Eobard is that you just can't. You can't naturally go at the speeds they go."
Barry huffed, upset, "How do you suppose that I fix that then?"
I was quiet for a moment to think, but then a terrible yet genius idea came into my head. "Tachyon technology. And the one person who knows the most about it is—"
"Eobard Thawne," Barry cut me off, realizing my great idea.
Then, from my desk, my phone started ringing loudly, reminding me it was time to get ready for graduation. I rushed back to my desk to turn off the alarm. "Okay," I explained hastily, as I gathered up my items and coat, "I have to go and get ready for graduation. Have fun time traveling Bar. Love you!" I shouted as I ran out the Cortex, "I'll see you boys at graduation."
________
Everyone in my class stood backstage while we were handed our gowns and caps; they were chatting among their friends and colleagues, but I was completely silent since I didn't really know anybody in here.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, this black, tight dress I had bought for graduation was eating me alive, because I bought this when I wasn't pregnant and bloated in the tummy area. It feels like I'm going to pass out, but God damn I look so good.
Cisco was texting updates on Barry's time travel adventure the whole time I was back stage. "He just left . . . . and he's back," he texted.
"That was fast," I replied, smirking.
________
My class was facing the auditorium full of our friends and family while names were being called. I could see towards the back, my entire family (including Cisco, Caitlin, Barry, Joe, and Iris) taking up a whole row of seats, and everyone was grinning.
"Marcus Birdthrow, Doctor of Quantum Mechanics," the dean announced, and the boy sitting next to me went to accept his diploma.
Oh my god, I'm next. This is actually happening, I'm getting my doctorate. This is incredible. None of this would have ever happened without Eobard. Thank you, Eobard, thank you for everything you've given me.
"Finn Carter, Doctor of Thermodynamics," the dean announced, and I felt my heart pound in my chest.
I stood up from my chair, and gracefully walked across the stage in my black heels to the dean. From the crowd, my family was cheering among the clapping from the rest of the audience.
The dean held out her hand for me to shake, which I did proudly, and she handed me my doctoral diploma.
It was in my hands, and it was completely mine.
Doctor Finn Carter, that has an amazing ring to it, don't you think?
