~time skip~
This was the moment we would find out who the three champions for the Tournament were going to be. The Cup had elected Viktor Krum for Durmstrang and Fleur Delacour for Beauxbatons. Now it was Hogwarts' turn.
The Cup spat out a piece of parchment and Dumbledore said "and Hogwarts' champion is... Cedric Diggory!" Everyone cheered and applauded, but I was just too shocked to move.
"Shit, I knew it would be him. That idiot is gonna get hurt real bad, I can just feel it. Damn you Cedric!" I thought to myself.
Cedric stood up and walked out of the Hall. Dumbledore started saying something, but the Cup cut him off by lighting up once more. "What the...?" I thought as it spit out another piece of parchment.
Professor Dumbledore took it and read the name in a soft but audible voice. "Harry Potter" he said and the whole Hall went even more silent. This wasn't supposed to happen.
"HARRY POTTER!" Dumbledore practically yelled when nothing happened. Harry stood up and walked towards him before going through the same door the other champions disappeared through.
"What in the bloody hell is going on?" I asked myself "Cedric just put his name in like the idiot he is, but Harry surely didn't! I mean he knew it was very dangerous and that he could get killed. Besides, how would he have gotten past the age barrier that Dumbledore had set up around the Cup?"
Harry's pov:
My thoughts were all over the place. How the hell did my name get into the Cup? I didn't want to participate in some deadly dangerous tournament which - by the way - I was too young for!I went down some stairs and Krum, Fleur and Cedric looked at me with confused faces. Suddenly I heard footsteps and a lot of noise behind me coming from the stairs. I turned around and saw Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Moody, Crouch, Karkaroff and madame Maxime rushing down the stairs.
Professor Dumbledore walked towards me and spoke up. "Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?" he asked calmly. "No sir" I said and Dumbledore turned to the other adults. They discussed a little but decided that I had to compete in the tournament, I didn't have a choice.
Y/n pov:
I didn't get a chance to see Harry anymore that night, but I did see Cedric in the common room. He was surrounded by more people than usual and they were all congratulating him.I walked up to him. "Hey Cedric, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked. He nodded and we took a little distance from all the other students.
"Okay y/n, I know that you're worried and maybe even angry but I promise you that I'll be fine okay?" he said before I could even open my mouth.
"Yeah, I am definitely worried Cedric, but I'm not really mad" I said. "I do think you're an idiot for putting your name in though, but I also know that you're good. You have a great chance of winning, I'll give you that."
Cedric smiled "Well thanks for believing in me y/n, it means a lot." I nodded "Of course, that's what friends are for, right?" He nodded "Right" he said as he looked a little disappointed for some reason. He quickly hid his expression, but not before I could see it. I decided to ignore it and to go to bed because I was actually really tired.
"Anyways, I won't congratulate you because I just think that's ridiculous when you're gonna participate in a tournament that could get you killed, but good luck though" I said and he laughed at that.
"Oh y/n, you're such a mood sometimes" Cedric said and I laughed a little too. "Well thanks I guess. Now, I'm gonna go to bed. Good night Cedric." "Good night y/n."
I went upstairs and laid awake for some time although I felt so tired I could've easily fallen asleep.
I felt a little better knowing that Cedric was confident about his participation in the tournament. It only made that he would do the tasks better.
I was still worried about Harry though, the tournament was nothing for someone as young as him. I think the ministry - for once - made the right choice by putting the age limit on the tournament. I wondered who had put Harry's name in the Cup though and why?
It surely couldn't be a joke from one of the older students, because that would only make that Hogwarts had a lesser chance of winning and believe me, everyone was pretty competitive at our school. Plus, I knew some of the older students were idiots, but putting a younger student's life in danger through the Triwizard Tournament... No, I refused to believe that anyone would do such a thing. Or at least as a joke, maybe someone actually wanted Harry to get hurt?
I tried not to focus on all of that and to just fall asleep, but I didn't really succeed. I pretty much didn't sleep the whole night and when I did, I was having nightmares about Cedric and Harry getting hurt real bad or dying. "Oh god, please let them be safe."
A/n
Hey guys!
So I know I went through this really quick, but I don't want to focus on the Triwizard Tournament too much. I think it's more important to focus on the characters instead, so that's what I'll try to do.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter, keep your eyes open for the next :)
Take care luvs❤
