Secrets (Draco x reader)

I was sitting in the courtyard with Ginny as she had just arrived at school with the others. We just talked about our vacation and Ginny filled me in about Ron and Hermione. Ron was together with Lavender Brown and Hermione felt hurt as she thought there was something between her and Ron.

"So that's why Hermione also didn't come to us this Christmas" Ginny explained "She just couldn't stand being around Ron, she's too hurt." I nodded. "I feel so bad for her. It's obvious that they have feelings for each other, they just have to admit it" I said and Ginny hummed in agreement.

"Yeah I know, but maybe it's best that she wasn't there. I'm relieved that you two weren't with us, now I was sure you were both safe" she said vaguely and I frowned. "Why? What happened?" I asked confused and Ginny let out a sad sigh. "A few Death Eaters came to our house and..." she paused for a bit as tears formed into her eyes "they burned it to the ground."

"They did what?!" I asked as my eyes widened in shock. "Harry and I were together when it happened and we ran downstairs as soon as we noticed the fire outside. Harry ran off to go after Bellatrix Lestrange and I was worried, so I followed him. Tonks and Remus came to us - you know they had stayed at the house that day - and when we came back to the Burrow, everyone was outside, watching it go up in flames" Ginny explained while a tear rolled down her cheek.

I pulled her in a hug and said "Everything is gonna be okay Ginny, don't worry. I'm here for you, it's gonna be okay." She cried softly and that's how you knew something was very important to her. Ginny was strong and she seemed to never want to let others see her cry, so if she let you, you know something really is wrong.

I talked some more with Ginny about everything that happened and eventually, we also got to the topic Draco. "So how was it, staying at school with him?" Ginny asked curiously. "Oh it was fun" I said with an amused smile as I thought about all the nice moments we had had. "Oh, tell me all about it" she said with a curious tone and I laughed.

"I just helped him with his problems and he helped with mine. The rest of the time was just fun as we enjoyed our days together" I explained with a big smile still on my face. Ginny gave me a weirdly suspecting look and I returned it as I said "Now, do tell me all about you and Harry."

"Oh y/n" Ginny said with a sigh "I gave up on him, you know that." I gave her a come-on-are-you-serious look. "No, you didn't. I can tell you still have feelings for him." She looked at me with a knowing look in her eyes. "Maybe that's the reason things between you and Dean didn't work out..." I added hesitantly and Ginny's expression turned into a guilty one.

"I didn't mean to hurt him though" she said softly while looking down at her hands. "I know honey" I said as I gave her a big hug "But it's not your fault, you can't choose who you love. So don't blame yourself, okay?" I felt her nodd against my head as we were still hugging.

I comforted Ginny some more and we slowly went to our own common rooms. I am not going to lie, I missed Draco a lot. I got kind of used to having him around me so much and next to me at night, but I just had to get used to not be around him as much now.

It was harder to fall asleep alone because I just felt so much safer when I knew he was with me. After an hour and a half of not being able to sleep, I had had enough and decided to go for a run again as I was sure it would help me sleep like it always did.

I put on my sweatpants and shirt as I went outside and ran for half an hour. I decided to once again transform into my wolf-self and just ran a little on the school grounds, far away from the Forbidden Forest this time. As I felt the cool wind brush through my fur and the ground under my moving paws, I enjoyed the endless feeling of freedom.

When I arrived back in my dorm, I felt a little more calm. I changed back into my pyjamas and fell asleep pretty quickly, although I still missed the comforting feeling of Draco laying beside me, holding me close to him.
