Secrets (Draco x reader)

~time skip of three days~

I woke up in the middle of the night. "Damn, I feel so energetic" I thought as I ran my hand through my hair "...again"

The past few weeks, it was hard for me to sleep at night. I often woke up when it was still dark, not being able to fall sleep again. I knew that the only thing that would help was to go for a run and get some energy out, so that's exactly what I did.

I put on some grey sweat pants, a black shirt and a pair of sporty shoes. Since I was an animagus, I wasn't bothered by the cold as much as before, so I didn't need a sweater.

I tiptoed out of my dorm so I wouldn't wake Ellie up and sneaked out of the common room. I made my way outside and started to run over the school grounds.

It felt so good to go for a run in the middle of the night. It was just so relaxing and freeing. I enjoyed every bit of it but went back inside after half an hour or so.

As I made my way back to the common room, I was thinking deeply. Becoming an animagus wasn't the only thing that changed for me this summer. My dad had left me and my mom and I still wasn't quite over it yet. How could I be?

I hadn't told anyone yet because it just made me too emotional. Every time I thought about it, I felt so hurt and angry. Did mom and I really mean so little to him? I just wanted to cry my eyes out and tear something apart at the same time whenever the situation crossed my mind again.

I didn't want to tell my friends about it because I just hated talking about that topic. On the other hand, talking may also help me to get through the situation.

As I was thinking about what I should do and who I should tell if I told someone, I didn't notice the footsteps that were approaching me. "Well well, what are you doing here?"

The sudden voice startled me and I looked up to meet Draco's beautiful grey eyes. If he wouldn't have said something, I would've surely bumped into him judging by the little space between our bodies.

"Draco" I said in a relieved manner. For a second, I thought he was maybe Filch or one of the professors. "Hello y/n" he said with a smile "What are you doing here so late?" I looked away from his eyes which was actually pretty hard to do.

"I just went for a quick run, that's all" I said with a shrugg. "Now what are you doing here pretty boy?" Those last words slipped out before I knew it. "Oh god..."

His smile turned into a smirk now "Oh you know, nothing much" he said simply. "But going for a run at 4am huh? Isn't that a little early y/n?" He asked me as he leaned against the wall. "God, why does he look so hot?!"

"Well, what can I say, I'm an early bird" I explained simply. "Oh, I see but-" I cut him off by putting my hand over his mouth in a sudden movement.

I listened carefully and could hear Peeves coming in our direction. Draco looked surprised as I slowly lowered my hand "What-" he started, but I cut him off again as I dragged him into the nearest classroom.

Draco opened his mouth to try to say something again, but I covered his mouth with my hand for a second time. He stared at me with a confused look but I could also feel his amused smile against the palm of my hand.

I heard Peeves passing with a lot of noise on the other side of the door and let go of Draco when I heard that he was gone.

"How did you know?" Draco asked me still a little bit confused. I panicked a little but tried to relax as much as I could. "I just heard him comi-" I started but this time he cut me off. "Oh come on y/n, I was standing right next to you and I didn't hear a sound. My hearing is just as good as yours, so how did you know?"

Being an animagus didn't only affect my temperature, but also my hearing but of course I couldn't tell him that. I tried to come up with an excuse but failed miserably. As he didn't get an answer from me, he lifted my chin up with his finger so my e/c eyes met his beautiful grey ones.

"Come on now y/n" he said with a smirk as he whispered in my ear "tell me your secret." I felt a shiver going down my spine and Draco moved his head back to look into my eyes again.

"I-I-" I stuttered as I felt my heartbeat rising. What in the actual fuck was happening to me? Why was it so hard for me to come up with a lie all of the sudden? And why was I stuttering like a stupid child?

Draco just grinned more widely "Go on y/n, you can tell me" he whispered in a comforting manner. Damn it! I really just couldn't come up with anything other than the truth. Well he was my friend after all, what's the harm in telling him?

I tried to look down, but he moved my chin up again with his finger. "I euhm-" I said hesitantly as I felt myself drawning in his deep, grey eyes "I am an euhm... animagus."

I didn't know why I was having such a hard time speaking without stuttering... Ha! Okay, so that was a lie.

Okay y/n, so you have clearly fallen in love with this idiot. Wasn't he just a friend? Good job, y/n, falling in love with your friend that no one knows about except for Ginny, bloody fantastic!
