Secrets (Draco x reader)

I ran for what felt like days, worrying and thinking about a lot of things until I just felt numb. My mind was clouded with grief and fear for what would happen now. The only thing I could think of doing was going somewhere safe.

Luckily, I had ran so far already that I wasn't far from the Weasley's house so I decided to just try that. When I arrived, I saw the big cosy house and I immediately felt a little calmer for some reason. I hesitantly walked to the front door and turned back into my human form before knocking.

Molly opened the door and looked surprised at me. "Y/n dear, what are you doing here?" she asked confused but certainly not unfriendly. I hesitated a little and she let me in, clearly seeing something was wrong.

When I enetered the Burrow, I saw a lot of festive things laying around and I remembered that Bill and Fleur's wedding was in a few days. I cursed myself for comming and immediately felt like leaving again.

"I just thought it would be nice to come over a little earlier so I could maybe help with the wedding preparations" I lied as I forced myself to smile somewhat meaningful "Sorry that I didn't say I was coming beforehand." Molly gave me a happy and tired expression at the same time. "That's very sweet of you dear and it's no problem at all."

Mrs Weasley told Ginny I was there and she led me to her room where I'd be staying for as long as I was here. I didn't tell anyone the truth about my sudden visit because I didn't wanna ruin the festive mood. It kind of made me feel a little better to just forget about it all for a second as well so that was good.

The next morning when I got downstairs, I could feel a heavy mood hanging in the air. Molly immediately came to me and hugged me tight. "We just heard it on the news honey" she said softly "Why didn't you tell us?" I felt like sinking through the ground right then and there.

"I just- I didn't want you to worry" I said after a few seconds of silence, almost whispering "Especially not when the wedding's so close..." Molly tightened the hug as if wanting to press me flat. "You can't help that it happened when it did dear. Don't feel guilty about it, okay?" She broke the hug to look me in the eyes. "Okay" was all I said and she lead me to the table to make me eat something.

After breakfast, I went back upstairs and searched through my bag until I finally found it: my leather notebook. I opened it up as I saw that the cover was white which meant that Draco had written me.

Hey Pup, how was your day?

That was probably still from yesterday as we nornally talked to each other every day.

Are you okay darling?
Y/n, you're making me worried by not answering...

"Shit " I cursed myself under my breath "He must have been worried sick."

Hey Draco, I'm sorry I didn't answer you until now. Look, something happened so I'm at the Weasley's now but I'm fine, don't worry.

I put my quill down and closed the book but the cover almost immediately turned white again.

Y/n! Fuck I was worried about you and for good reasons apparently. First of all, "something happened" is never a good sign and secondly, I know you better than you think darling, "I'm fine" is what you always say when you're not.

I sighed as I cursed myself for not thinking about being more careful with my words.

You don't have to tell me what happened if you don't want to okay, just know that you can.

I dipped my quill in the ink again and answered him.

Okay fine you're right, I'm not okay. Can you talk tonight? With that fireplace-trick thing?

Of course I can love. Midnight?

Yeah, I'll be there.

When everyone had gone to sleep, I got downstairs and waited 5 more minutes until it was midnight.

"Hey y/n" I heard as a voice sounded from the fireplace. "Draco, you have no idea how much I missed seeing your face" I said as I got out of the armchair and went closer to the fire.

"So darling, tell me what happened" Draco said with a clearly much softer voice, signaling me that he really was very worried. "My mom was killed, Draco" I said with trembling hands "Yesterday, right in front on me."

I could see his expression changing from worry to sadness and anger. "I had to flee because your damn aunt wants me to join her freaking cult shit" I said feeling myself getting a little mad again "No offence to you baby but I swear that woman is even more mental than a fucking psychopath."

I just realised that I probably should've been softer on him, crazy or not Bellatrix was still family to him. I just wanted to apologise for being so rude but Draco was faster. "She did what!? Y/n I'm so sorry, I didn't know they went to your place. I would've come to you or I could've at least warned you."

"Hey no, it's alright. This is not your fault okay?" I piped in but Draco kept on rambling his thoughts out. "Wait, why the fuck does she want you to join this shit show? No offence y/n but you're not a pure blood, she should despise you" Draco said in a whole rant.

"Draco calm down. She just said they could 'use someone like me', apparently she thinks I'm a good fighter. If I was I could've protected my mom..." I said as I looked at my hands, my voice trembling a little. "Hey, look at me" Draco said in a sweet tone and he spoke again after I looked up.

"You are a great fighter but what happened is not your fault, okay? It's Bellatrix' and she will pay for it. Just promise me to never join this side of the story. I didn't have a choice but you do" Draco said worriedly. "I know Draco but I never will, okay?" I tried to convince him but he shook his head.

"I know you y/n. You will make up some 'epic' plan which you think is gonna be great but it will be bloody dangerous and maybe it will even involve going in on that proposal. So just promise me okay?" I could see that he was clearly worried about me so I just nodded. "Okay, I promise" I said quietly. "Good" Draco said contently "I have to go darling, but promise me to check in everyday just so I know you're still safe."

"You want me to make a lot of promises today, huh?" I asked to lighten up the mood a little but Draco just gave me an "are you kidding me right now?"-look while he tried to hide his smile. "Okay sorry, I promise" I say as my own smile softly appears on my face.

"Okay good, thank you. Bye darling, I love you" Draco said as we both got ready to leave. "Bye handsome, I love you too" I said a little sad to leave him. Right before the fire turned normal again, I heard a small chuckle from him at hearing the nickname and I smiled involuntarily.

I'm sorry for not posting for so long. I was honestly just not really doing well and then my exams came up so I didn't really have the motivation or time to write anymore. But tomorrow is my last exam so I could find a little time to write again and the motivation is finally back again too. I'm sorry for making you guys wait so long but I'll try to update regularly again.
