Secrets (Draco x reader)

~ time skip to March ~

A few weeks had passed and things were going pretty good. It was Ron's birthday today and he was making sure everyone knew it. "Of course he does that, it's Ron" I thought to myself with an amused smile.

The day went by pretty normally, but when I got to the Hall the next morning, Hermione came running out with a panicked face. When I greeted her with a confused smile, she just kept running. "Sorry y/n I can't talk, I gotta go to Ron!" she kind of yelled while passing me rather fastly. I didn't know what was going on, but I followed her hurriedly because it seemed pretty urgent. "What's happening?"

To my surprise, we didn't go to the Gryffindor Tower, but to the Hospital Wing. "Why are we going to the Hospital Wing? What happened?" Hermione rushed in and I saw some teachers standing around a hospital bed with Harry sitting at the side. Hermione ran towards the bed and sat down at the opposite side from Harry with a panicked and worried look.

"What the hell happened?" I asked confused and Harry explained everything to me. "Ron ate love-potion-spiked chocolates that Romilda Vane had meant for me. I took him to professor Slughorn to get rid of his slightly annoying love obsession but he drank mead that was poisoned apparently and he almost died."

I blinked a few times to process the news. "He almost died?!" I asked shocked. "Don't worry miss l/n, mr Weasley will be fine thanks to mr Potter" madam Pomfrey said while giving me a reassuring nod. I looked at Harry, confused and he smiled shyly at me. "I gave him a bezoar" he explains and I nod understandingly.

"Where is he? Where's my Won-Won?" I rolled my eyes almost like it was a reflex. "God no, not her!" Lavender Brown walked into the room with her annoying high pitched voice that makes her sound like a chocking goat.

Lavender threw one look at Hermione and asked to no one in particular "What is she doing here?" I was having a hard time holding in my laugh now. "Oh this is gonna be so good" I thought and Hermione gave Lavender a dirty look back. "Excuse me? I could ask you the same thing" she said offended.

"I happen to be his girlfriend" Lavender answered with a proud face which made me cringe in annoyance and Hermione just snapped. "Well I happen to be his... friend" she said with a slightly disappointed look when she said that last bit.

Before either of them could say anything again, Ron started mumbling something. "See? He senses my presence" Lavender said while looking at Ron intensely "I'm here Won-Won." "Madam Pomfrey, please give me a bucket, I think I'm gonna be sick."

"H-her-rmm" Ron mumbled some weird shit and everyone stayed focused on him. "Her-Hermione... Hermione..." I couldn't help but be excited at the drama that was unfolding itself at that moment. Hermione took Ron's hand and didn't dare to look up at anyone.

I shifted my gaze to Lavender and felt a little bad when I saw the hurt expression on her face. She ran out of the Hospital Wing and I noticed the tears in her eyes. "Okay maybe she didn't deserve that..."

The teachers decided to leave and Harry and I did the same. "Those two are hopeless" I said to Harry while we walked back to the Great Hall. "Yes they are" he replied with a laugh. "Oh damn, if you even say that, it means a lot" I said jokingly but Harry looked at me with an offended look. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" I laughed again.

"Oh come on Harry, you're so clueless" I said while giving him a soft punch with my elbow. "I am not clueless!" he said defensively but I gave him an are-you-kidding-me look. "Yes Harry, you really are." "Just look at how clueless you are about Ginny..."

Harry kept looking at me as if to say "not true" and I kept giving him a bitch-yes-you-are look. "Alright fine! Maybe I am a little clueless" Harry admitted and a few seconds after, we both started laughing. "Keep me updated on Ron, okay?" I asked him before leaving and he nodded. "Sure, but don't worry, madam Pomfrey said he's gonna be okay eventually."

~ small time skip ~

Draco had asked me to meet up later in the day, so I was on my way to meet him now. We would see each other near the lake and he was already there when I arrived. "Sorry I'm late" I said immediately "I was talking with Ginny about Ron's condition..." Draco rolled his eyes.

"Yeah I heard he's in the Hospital Wing again. What did he do this time? Kiss Brown so much that he choked?" he asked with an amused smile at his own joke but I gave him a serious look. "He drank poisoned mead and almost died." Draco's smile faded immediately and his eyes widened as he got even paler than he normally was.

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly. I knew that Draco wouldn't joke about something so serious, but I didn't expect jim to be so shocked either. "Draco?" I asked again and he looked down at the ground. "Will he be alright?" he asked softly and that only made me feel more uneasy for some reason.

"Yes he will, but what's wrong Draco? Talk to me" I said while the worried feeling inside me grew with each passing second. "It was me" he said, almost whispering. "I don't understand Draco. What are you talking about?" Draco looked into my eyes and said "I poisoned the mead." My eyes widened in surprise and my face went blank. "It was meant for Dumbledore, it was my backup..."

"As in the backup I told you not to use yet?!" I snapped "The backup you would only use after trying to fix the Cabinet?" I tried to stay calm, but I just couldn't and Draco snapped too. "It's been two months since we had that conversation y/n! Two bloody months in which nothing changed! I am running out of time and this was one of my only options!"

"You should have waited at least one extra month Draco, you're gonna fix that stupid shit box and everything will be okay!" I yelled but Draco clearly didn't think the same. "No I won't! Don't you see it y/n? I can't fix it and I'm gonna fail! I'm gonna fail him, I'm gonna fail my mom and I'm gonna fail you !"

I blinked a few times in surprise at Draco's last words and my facial expressions softened. "Why would you fail me?" I asked in a normal tone and Draco looked into my eyes while panting from all the yelling. "Because if I fail this task, I will fail to protect you. He will learn about you somehow, I just know it and then I won't be able to protect you."

I walked closer to Draco and cupped his face lovingly. "You won't ever fail me Draco, you just can't. I promise." Draco gave me an unsure look but I smiled reassuringly which made him lean into my touch.

"I don't deserve you darling" he said softly and my heart broke at seeing his hurt expression. He really was broken. "Yes you do, you deserve all my love and attention baby" I said while moving my face closer to his and giving him a soft but meaningful kiss.
