Secrets (Draco x reader)

Christmas break was almost over as there was just one more day left before all the other students would come back to school. I hated it, not because classes would start again - although the idea didn't exactly make me happy - but mostly because Draco and I would have to go back to spending less time together. It really sucked and I was thinking about how everything would change again as I took my stuff back from Draco's dorm to mine.

As I walked into the Room of Requirement - where I knew Draco would be - I heard him mumbling something. I walked towards him and understood that he was talking to himself. Draco suddenly seemed to notice my presence as he stopped talking mid-sentence and turned around to face me.

When his eyes made contact with mine, he looked away rather fastly and continued working on the Vanishing Cabinet. "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked confused and Draco stopped what he was doing. "Did ehm-" he cleared his throat "Did you hear anything of... that?" he asked in a tone that made it seem like he was... ashamed?

"Oh well, I didn't hear anything of what you said" I explained simply "But Draco, why would that even matter?" He turned around to me again but kept his gaze down at his hands. "I just don't really like people to know that I talk to myself" Draco said softly and I smiled at him.

"Draco, it's not like it's anything bad, you know? I talk to myself out loud all the time, there's no need to be ashamed about that" I said while walking closer to him and talking his hands in mine. Draco looked up at me but I could see in his eyes that something was still bothering him. After a few seconds, Draco asked "Do you still think I can get this to work y/n? Do you still believe in me?"

My heart broke as I saw the sad and hurt expression on his face. He really didn't have as much self-confidence as people might think, he was actually pretty insecure about himself. All he needed sometimes was just for someone to remind him that he wasn't a failure and that he was loved.

"Of course I do baby" I said softly while cupping his face "I will always believe in you." Draco smiled softly at me to show his appreciation. "Thanks Pup" he said as he leaned into my loving touch. "Maybe I should try another way to fulfill my task" Draco said after some moments of silence and he gestured to the Cabinet as he continued "I mean, this thing may never work."

I frowned at him and said "Draco, how what would you do then? You know Dumbledore isn't an easy man to fool and if you fix the Cabinet, you may not have to kill him yourself, you know that" Draco sighed. "I know y/n, but it'll just be a plan B" he said with a lost look in his eyes. "Okay, but let's keep trying to fix this thing first, okay?" I asked and Draco nodded.

We tried for a long time, but nothing really changed as the Cabinet remained broken. "Okay y/n, let's just go back to the common room" Draco said defeated "This isn't gonna work, it never was." I looked at him with a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry Draco, you really don't deserve this. It's just a hurtful way of punishing you and your mom for your dad's stupid shit last year" I said while looking into his eyes.

"I know y/n, I can't believe how my mom can still tolerate him sometimes" Draco said with a sad sigh. "It's because your mom is a sweetheart" I said with a smile which Draco returned. He took my hand and we walked out of the room together, on our way to the Slytherin common room.

"This is probably the last time I'll be in here" I said while sitting down on the green couch in front of the fire. "Yeah probably" Draco said while sitting down next to me "I'm gonna miss this though." I put my head on his shoulder and said "Me too baby." He put his arm around my waist and pulled me on his lap to hug me better. I squealed out of surprise and he chuckled a little.

"Did I startle you darling?" he asked with an amused smile. "Yes you did idiot" I said jokingly "but this isn't a very comfortable position though." Draco smiled at me. "Do you wanna go to bed then? It's certainly a lot more comfortable..." he proposed and I nodded as I returned his smile.

Draco offered me his hand and I took it. We walked towards his dorm together and got read for bed as it was already getting late. Draco and I cuddled together for at least an hour. I laid with my head against his chest and he brushed a hand through my hair as the other was wrapped around my waist.

I suddenly heard Draco yawn and I looked up at him. "Make sure to get a good night sleep baby" I said a little concerned "You need it, you've been tiring yourself out and I don't like seeing you so exhausted all the time." Draco gave me a soft smile. "Did I ever tell you how much you remind me of my mom?" he asked sweetly and all I could do was look at him in surprise. "I remind him of Narcissa?"

"You're the only one except for her that seems to really know me, the only one to really see me" he explained as he saw my expression. "That's a really sweet thing of you to say Draco, thank you" I said shyly and he just smiled warmly at me.

"Now make sure you get some rest too Pup, worrying about others costs a lot more energy than you might think" Draco said and I nodded. As I was sleepy, I nuzzled my head some more against him and he gave me a kiss on the top of my head. "Goodnight Pup" he said softly. "Goodnight baby" I whispered and we both slowly fell asleep.
