Ok, so I may be a bit of a sadist. I knew that I could have given Trevor something a bit more complicated to put on, but I just ended up giving him a pair of sweatpants and at-shirt. What I didn't know was that Sypha took the t-shirt I had intended for him to wear and he, instead, walked out of the bedroom in a shirt I'd forgotten my roommate had:
HATING ME
WON'T MAKE YOU
ANY PRETTIER
I didn't say anything. I didn't react. I didn't even let a smirk get through. Instead, I moved back into the kitchen to grab a couple of cloth shopping bags to take with us. I wasn't going to let him know just how silly he really looked at this moment because I wanted to find out what others would think once he got out in public. My plans, however, were thwarted by a single snigger.
"What?"
Snort. Snicker.
"What, dammit?!"
Sputter. Giggle.
Thundering footsteps and a guttural roar marked the end of Trevor's patience as he lunged across the room toward...Adrian?
"What do you think you're doing!" I hurried and yelled before the two could meet in the middle of my living room. Trevor skidded to a stop on the rug while Adrian stood his ground and smirked at his halting form.
"This fanged fucker was laughing at me and wouldn't tell me what it was he found so fucking funny, so I decided I would do him a favor and rearrange that face of his so people wouldn't mistake him for a little bitch," Trevor huffed, his anger tinting his voice with gruffness and his skin with a bright red.
"I don't care if he was waving his dick at you and telling you to cluck like a chicken!" I said, now letting my own anger at the near destruction of my home tint my words. "You DO NOT destroy this house! You DO NOT disturb my neighbors with your stupidity! And YOU DO NOT YELL AT ME!"
Trevor, after hearing my tone, visibly shrank back from me. Sypha, who had been sitting on the couch in wait, was also sitting up a little straighter with her eyes widened. Adrian, who had been the reason for Trevor's ire, had started out smirking with glee at the sight of Trevor catching the brunt of my anger, but was now looking on guiltily. He knew that if he'd said something, the argument may not have brought down my wrath.
Calming myself, I continued. "I understand you may not get why he's laughing. If you look down at your shirt and do a little reading, you'll understand quite easily. That, however, doesn't change the fact that you're behaving like you would if we were back at the castle, and that simply will not do here. I have people living around me here. Yes, we are on the bottom floor and all, but there are other people above and to the side of me here. Not to mention all of the people in the other buildings across from me. You can't just act like we're alone here because these people will pick up their phones and call the police. Then we'll have to figure out how to explain why you don't have any identification, no records to explain where you were born or any various other things they could come up with to fuck things up even more. So, please?Think before you act?"
"I'm sorry, too," Adrian said guiltily. "If I hadn't baited him, you wouldn't have had to hear this argument."
"Yeah," I finally admitted, "and if I'd said something about his shirt from the beginning, we wouldn't be having this conversation either.
"But Trevor," I turned to address the sulking male in the room, "you really need to learn not to be so damn butt hurt about every little snicker that you hear behind you or you'll soon find that they really are laughing at you."
