The dappled light of the sun hit my face through the hanging potted plants in front of the window and played a game of light and shadow over my eyes. I found myself smiling as I slowly began to awaken at the memories of our dinner the night before. It did surprise me that he'd put so much thought into it, but also recognized the fact that our families had gone to such lengths to help him out. Such things were almost foreign to me before. None of my former boyfriends even attempted to set up something romantic like a bath with all my usual oils and bubbles in it. The candlelight and the wine was something I'd read about in romance novels but never had myself with part of the reason being that I had a roommate and felt it would be rude to tie up the bathroom just to indulge myself.
Adrian had been a bit sneaky all week prior and his brooding from time to time didn't escape my notice. Then came the longer amounts of time on his phone. Little did I know he was up to something like this, but I couldn't have been happier. Just the fact that we could spend time together made me feel so much better about everything that's been going on.
I didn't want to tell anyone about how stressed I'd been feeling with all the preparation for my wedding, but I could already feel the lethargy kicking in and the hyperventilation overtaking me from time to time during the day. Even being a vampire didn't stop those feelings from coming through. I supposed it was unrealistic to think I wouldn't suffer from human maladies just because I changed into a vampire. After all, we start out human, we resemble humans and we do all the things humans do. Why I'd thought it would be different now was so naive of me, I almost felt ashamed to think.
I decided to sit up to begin my day and found two things odd: the first being that I was stiff, so stiff I could almost feel my joints creak like rusty hinges. The second being the fact I was in the living room. I know I didn't intentionally come out here, so what I was doing sitting, well, splayed out on the couch was a mystery to me. I looked around to see if there was anything else out of the ordinary, but only saw that Adrian was laying on the floor. Well, that and both of us had no clothing on. Not a single stitch.
Finally managing to get into an upright and mostly locked position took a little longer than it should have, but once I'd done it the phone began to ring. It wasn't my phone because my ringtone was set to play Odd Future by UVERworld. Before I'd managed to locate Adrian's phone the ringing had stopped, so I decided to wake Adrian instead.
"Babe?" Getting a groan, I called again. "Babe. Your phone is ringing and I can't find it."
"I don't care. Floor is comfy," Adrian muttered. His head shot up rather quickly, which apparently was a bad idea as he groaned even louder and his brow furrowed.
"What the fuck am I doing on the floor?"
"I have no idea," I said. "I'm wondering why I'm on the couch buck ass naked myself, so I guess we both have some issues." Adrian chuckled a bit and righted himself to sitting.
"Oooh! You really are nakey!" he remarked while wiggling his eyebrows. I couldn't help but laugh at him as he semi-scrambled up from the floor to sit next to me on the couch. I leaned into him while he threw his arm around my shoulders and pulled me close for a side hug, but soon I heard a questioning 'um' come from his lips and looked up.
"Why are the curtains not hanging like they should?" He pointed out where he was looking and I saw that part of the left curtain had been pulled free of the rod and hung down. "I know for a fact that I checked to make sure those things were closed before we went to the bathroom, so I'm a little puzzled here." Before I could say anything in response, his phone began ringing again.
