When Trevor and Sypha finally left, I watched as she slowly ate her soup, mostly drinking the broth, and occasionally pulled at the sheet that was over her. When I noticed her shiver, I stood up and grabbed another blanket to wrap around her shoulders.

"Thank you, Adrian," she said softly. She appeared to perk up with the added warmth and presented me with a smile, albeit a weak one, and took my hand in hers to place a small kiss on my knuckles.

"What was that medicine you had us put on your arm?" I asked quickly in an attempt to distract myself from watching her pull up the sheet to once again cover her exposed chest.

"I found a few recipes in one of the books that you and Trevor brought me that had an antivenom for night creatures in it. Everything I needed to make it was out back, so I whipped some up one afternoon while waiting for my solar charger to gather energy. I thought it would be helpful to you and Trevor, but never once thought I would have to use it on myself."

"Thanks to your need to fill time you may have saved your own life," I stated matter-of-factly. Her response to my serious statement was a slight smile, but I could tell she was very proud of herself even though she was obviously still a bit groggy. I couldn't have been more proud of her for her quick thinking and inquisitive nature because without those things, I would be holding a corpse in my arms by now. I suddenly remembered something that I thought would pick up her spirits.

"By the way, Trevor and I found the tools."

"Really? That's great!" she responded. Her eyes were wide and brightened, her smile almost back to normal.

"Yes. I thought that would make you a bit happier, not that waking up wouldn't."

I thought about a theory I had before Adrian said something about finding the tools, but I was questioning whether or not to say anything about it. All of the things that happened while I was asleep had me contemplating a few things and hypothesizing others. If he hadn't said anything about the tools, the conversation we were having would have been completely different. Steeling myself, I began to relay my previous thought.

"Adrian?" I began.

"Yes?"

"Would you like to know what I was seeing while I was asleep?" Before I'd even finished the sentence, he had turned to look me in the eye. I took the opportunity to hand him my bowl and scoot forward in the bed so that I could shift the blanket a bit, but instead was treated to him sitting behind me, which he did almost as quickly as I had moved. He took the blanket that had been around my shoulders and opened it up over my body, got comfortable behind me and then pulled me back into his chest. I could tell that he was comforted by the closeness and could feel his heartbeat in my back pounding out a gentle rhythm.

"It was strange, to say the least," I began. "I remember being lowered to the floor and seeing you guys around me, but then it slowly faded to black. I couldn't hear you at all, or see any of you."

I proceeded to tell him about what I'd seen and felt the whole time. How I was chased by a creature while a menacing voice continued to belittle and frighten me the whole time. The way I'd felt while trapped in the dark and how I'd desperately fought back against the feelings that voice was trying to make me feel.

"But it was this warm golden glow that I saw that brought me out," I admitted.

Adrian had his fingers threaded between mine and my thumb was in a sort of battle that had me smiling.
