Spring Forward, Fall Back (Alucard x Chubby! Reader)

Reader P.O.V.

As we went back to my apartment, I could feel the anxiety of the man beside me radiating off him like heat from the sun. I glanced to my side and saw that he was bouncing his leg in his nervousness, but I knew that if I attempted to touch him it would get worse.

"Try to calm yourself, Adrian. You're making the car shake a bit." I tried to add a bit of humor to help break the tension in his body and mind, but it seemed that it did nothing but make him even more nervous. His whole body jumped a bit at the sudden voice in his mind and his eyes widened at the idea that I knew what was wrong.

"Its that obvious?" his inner voice answered.

"Honey, you're so agitated, I could throw you in a bathtub with my laundry and have clean clothes to hang up in twenty minutes."

To the rest in the car the only thing heard was Adrian's laugh, the conversation that sparked it completely lost on them. To be honest, judging by their lack of reaction, I'm pretty sure they know that Adrian and I could talk back and forth without speaking out loud. I'm also certain they knew about the whole mate thing before I did, but rather than throw a fit I'd decided to trust Adrian. I knew he was still reeling from the two that had betrayed him, but it still stung a bit that he couldn't confide in me.

I realize that he hasn't known me for long, but my female brain didn't want to let that one point be. It is the fact that he's so raw from the two humans before me that he has trouble trusting in me completely now, and it isn't my fault or his that this is something he has to go through on his own, but it doesn't mean that I can't be there for when he actually does need me. I understand it a whole lot more because I have had similar issues all through my dating life and its those experiences that makes it a lot easier to be patient.

"Would you guys like to play a game tonight? Or maybe watch a movie?" I suggested. I wanted to break the tension in the car that seemed to be slowly building.

"I wouldn't mind watching a movie, but did you remember to charge your laptop?" Sypha answered.

"Oh, no," I responded. "We can watch them on my television."

"That big black thing?" Trevor asked.

"Yeah. Much bigger screen than my laptop and far less set up," I said. I couldn't hide the smile when I thought of how they'd react to my movie collection.

"Sure!" Sypha said excitedly. "That sounds like fun." With that settled, I drove us to my apartment where we'd figure out what to watch.

Upon walking in, I took off my shoes and told everyone I wanted to take a quick shower before we started so I could get comfortable, but took out two of my movie books for them to look through while I was out. In no time at all, they'd waved me off and started to peruse the titles. I made my way back to my room to drop off the stuffed animals and purchases from our night out. I pulled out some more comfortable clothes and made my way toward my bathroom. I heard Trevor and Sypha going to their room to change clothes, so I knew I could take my time.

The warmth of the water eased some of the aches I had in my body from walking around the carnival and adult store. I'm not a lump on the couch or anything, but being heavier than most women does tend to make muscle aches and pains something of a daily occurrence, and the size of my breasts tended to strain my back from time to time because of their weight. Unfortunately, because I'd gotten so engrossed with the relaxing patter of water hitting my tired and sore body, I didn't notice that Adrian had entered the shower with me until he'd begun touching me.
