I woke to a knee poking me in the butt yet again. This was becoming a habit that I surely hoped would be broken. When I turned to look at Adrian to ask him to move his knee, he was face down in between the pillows looking as though he was doing a butterfly stroke in a swimming pool, his hair flowing around the pillows in a tangled mess of golden strands that looked like a spider's web that was tossed about with a stiff breeze.
I chuckled at the sight and decided that I didn't need any more sleep, instead deciding to get up and shower for the day. Grabbing the clothes I would need, I proceeded to my destination and started the shower. Hoping that the running water didn't wake him up, I took a moment to poke my head out of the door to see that Adrian hadn't really stirred. He'd grabbed a hold of my pillow and squeezed it closer to his body, but that was really the only noticeable difference.
After taking my shower and dressing, I made my way out to the kitchen and began making breakfast for everyone. Like I would usually do, I pulled all of the ingredients I would need out of the fridge first and foremost and took the vegetables I would use with me to the living room along with my cutting board. I also brought along a couple of chicken sandwiches to tear apart and use. Chicken and veggie quiche sounded so good for breakfast!
After turning on the news, I began peeling the skin from the chicken I rescued from the sandwiches and chopped them down to bite size pieces. Then the cherry tomatoes and mushrooms joined in the bowl before I got bored with hearing about the weather. I changed the channel and continued my prepping until I had everything together. Now came the fun part.
Making sure that the others weren't up yet, I started the preheat of the oven before spraying my baking pan and whisking up my eggs. I checked to make sure I had my cheese ready and put it all together in my baking pan. After I got that in the oven, I broke out the toaster and started making toast points and clarifying butter.
"This isn't going to help them realize I'm not a gourmet cook," I said aloud to myself before I chuckled at my own silliness. As the toast finished, I brushed each one with the clarified butter, cut them into triangles and put them into a small basket with a cloth in it to keep them warm. Once those were done I moved over to the coffee pot and got that started, went to the cabinet to get out the plates and cups, grabbed silverware and napkins and then moved over to set the table.
It wasn't too long before everything was done that I heard everyone stirring in the back of the apartment. I watched as Trevor stumbled around sleepily toward the bathroom in the hall and heard the toilet from my room flush. I smiled to myself as I explained how our toilets had pretty much followed those that were found in the castle, no chamber pots under the beds or anything like that.
"Something smells wonderful," Trevor muttered as he walked back into the bedroom to dress for the day. Sypha came from the room shortly thereafter dressed in leggings and a simple blouse, and Adrian walked out in black jeans and a t-shirt that said on the front:
I got a dig bick.
You that read wrong.
You read that wrong, too.
Chuckling to myself, I finished getting the coffee, cream and sugar put on the table before turning back to the stove and getting the quiche out of the oven. I popped it from the pan, cut it into slices and brought it to the table. By the time I sat it down, Trevor had come out from the bedroom fully dressed and taken his place at the table. After everyone had gotten their food and drink to their liking, I started a conversation with them.
