"Of course I remembered...at the last minute," he muttered the last bit causing me and my father to laugh heartily until the strains of classical piano broke through the chatter.

"Now face the altar for a moment," Father said as he pat me on the shoulder. "We'll let you be surprised by your wife-to-be. I'll tell you when to turn." He then moved me to the left side of the altar and kept his hand on my shoulder to keep me still and calm.

I peeked around the corner to watch as Lisa and Celeste walked down the aisle smiling brightly to everyone assembled, but was yanked back before Reggie stepped foot through the door. I didn't get a chance to see who all was sitting there, so I was just a bit upset, but the nerves returned with a vengeance when I realized it was my turn to walk with my father at my side.

"Don't worry, glowworm," my father's voice broke through the fog of anxiety. "I'm right here with you, sweetheart, so be brave and beautiful like I know you are." I smiled and blushed a bit at the compliments he passed my way. Granted, he was my father and I think somewhere in a parenting manual (that apparently my birth unit read in Chinese and upside down) said you have to tell your daughter she's beautiful even if she's a hot mess wrapped in catastrophe, but I took his compliments and used them to bolster my resolve. Straightening my back and standing as tall as I could, I waited for the music to signal my entrance.

Soon enough the music changed and I heard shuffling in the seats meaning they'd turned around to look at me as I came in. I gripped my bouquet and my father's arm, took a deep breath and stepped out into the entryway. I marveled at the beauty that was all around me: the lights, the setting, the lighting on the altar itself. The work that must have gone into decorating this grand hall must have taken them forever and three days to complete and I was having a very hard time not weeping with happiness at the sight. I could already hear Celeste harping at me about ruining my makeup and that stopped the waterworks and the nervousness as I walked up to the altar.

I saw Vlad clap Adrian on the shoulder and watched him turn slowly toward me. At first his eyes widened to the point I thought they'd fall out of his head, then he quickly turned back to face forward for a moment before turning back to look at me with such a beautiful smile. I almost melted right there and then.

Father pat my shoulder, his signal to turn and look upon my bride, and I was completely gobsmacked.

She was walking toward me in such a beautiful dress I could have sworn was made just for her. The veil trailed behind her with small blossoms from the arrangements through the room dotting through it and was just thin enough for me to see the wide smile that shown brightly beneath. The gentle glow from the wings behind her that poked through either side of the veil made me think I was marrying a moon goddess or a nocturnal fairy of bewitchment instead of the woman I'd come to love. I had to turn away for a moment so I didn't make a fool of myself by dragging her back into another room to strip her down and make love to her for the rest of the day. I took a few deep breaths before I turned back around to look at her and just couldn't control my smile. When she finally stood next to me, Richter asked:
