Chapter 12 - The Morning After Part 2

"Almost?" I asked, afraid of the answer.

"Yes," he smiled. "You remind me a bit of my mother."

"Oh, there's the kiss of death," I said dramatically, earning a chuckle from Alucard.

"No, that's not what I mean. I mean you're so strong, blunt, and smart. My mother was all of those things. I mean, she had a way of reigning in my father like he wasn't immortal or stronger than her, and instead a child at her mercy most of the time. She had a sense of humor that usually set him on his ear more often than not, a curiosity that made him eager to indulge her and a way of caring for a person that would warm them to their soul."

I was nearly in tears at how he described her. "And you think I'm like her?"

He looked at me and grinned. "Weren't you just over there holding my hair back while I was sick?" I nodded. "And aren't you here giving me a bed bath at this very moment?"

I smiled. "Yes. I'm trying to get you bathed properly so you can try to sleep off that headache of yours. Speaking of which, I need to talk to you about something." I could see Alucard stiffen when I spoke as if he was waiting for hell to be raised.

"Do you remember what you did last night?" I asked. His eyes opened wide with a look of horror and embarrassment. He slowly shook his head no and waited for me to yell at him.

"You put your arm around my shoulders and leaned into me to tell me that you liked me. A lot. And then you grabbed my hand, placed it on your crotch..."

"Don't! Don't say anymore!" he shouted. He put his face in his hands and whimpered.

"Alucard," I said softly, grabbing his wrists to pull his hands away. When he finally looked me in the eye, I said, "I didn't mind. After you told me that you wanted me, you fell asleep. Granted, you wouldn't let me remove my hand and pretty much held it there the whole time, but I didn't mind. As a matter of fact, I moved you so that your head was in my lap."

He looked at me with eyes wide. "Really?"

I chuckled. "Really. I let you sleep on me the whole night. I ran my fingers through your hair and let you sleep. Yes, you'd already done the thing that resulted in the need to change your pants, but I covered you and made sure that Trevor and Sypha left before I got up. I was only awake maybe twenty minutes before you came flying in here because I wanted to make sure that you would be able to get cleaned up to spare you the embarrassment of being seen by your friends."

Alucard sighed heavily. "So I did make a fool of myself. I thought so."

"Who said you did?" I said. The look of hope that he shot me with when I'd said that almost shattered my heart.

"But I did that...a-and I forced you to do that a-and I -"

I couldn't take it anymore. I launched myself toward Alucard and embraced him. I could feel his body tense up the moment we made contact, but soon after felt his muscles relax. He let out a breath I'm certain he didn't know he was holding and wrapped his arms around me.

"Alucard.."

"Please call me Adrian? Please?" I heard him whimper.

"Adrian," I felt him sigh in response. "Whatever happened last night, whether you believed you forced me or believe me when I say I could have made you let me go, didn't bother me in the least. Do you honestly believe that if I held anything against you I would be here in your room trying to make sure that you wouldn't be shamed or laughed at by your friends? Would I have kept to myself what happened last night?"

His arms tightened around me and squeezed me closer to him. When I felt his body shaking, I ran my fingers through his hair and rubbed his back in an effort to comfort him. He sighed at my ministrations and I ended up leaning back and kissing the top of his head. He seemed to freeze for just a moment before relaxing back into me, his breathing slowing down even more.

"Adrian, you need to get some rest. I'm sure that your head isn't doing so well and you've been sick. You're going to sweat out the rest of this shit in your system, so I'm not going to put any clothes on you. I'll be back in to check on you later, though, so if your stomach is a little more settled, I'll give you some medicine for your head and stomach then. Would that be alright?"

"Yes," he whispered. He released me and leaned back, lifting the blanket so he could pull his legs underneath. He pulled the blanket up to his chin and shivered a bit before fully relaxing into the mattress below him.

"Now you rest. I'll be back in to check on you later," I said before I leaned forward and kissed his forehead. I leaned back to look at his face and smiled slightly while moving his hair away from his face. I then stood, gathered all of the things I brought with me and made my way to the door.

"Goodnight, Adrian. Sleep sweet," I said softly before leaving the room and closing the door softly behind me.
