"What do you mean?" he finally asked.
"Well," I said on a sigh, "to be honest, the light was about the same color as your hair. But, more importantly, it was warm. The darkness that I was surrounded by started out sweltering hot and turned almost freezing, so getting into that light with it's warmth was a welcome change."
"That's interesting," he replied while wrapping his arms around me and putting his chin on my shoulder.
"Also," I uttered timidly, "I could have sworn I heard your voice." The blush started growing when I heard Adrian gasp softly, but I could imagine I looked like a full fledged tomato when he wrapped his arms around me tighter.
"Really?"
"Yes," I admitted. "I moved into that light and I could have sworn I heard you ask me to take your hand. It was as if you had personally come to get me and lead me out." Adrian let that bit of information sink in before he said anything more.
"Well," he began, "I can honestly tell you that your arm, until a little before you awoke, looked pretty horrible. There were purple colored veins radiating out from the puncture wound. But suddenly your fever broke completely and the wound looked like it healed almost completely just a few minutes before you opened your eyes."
"Huh," was all I could say. Well, I could say more, but I have a feeling I might sound a bit like a jerk.
"What's on your mind?" Adrian asked, dragging me up from my mired thinking.
"It was a thought that just crossed my mind. It's going to sound pretty stupid."
"Well? Can't be any worse than the turtle breathing through it's butt thing," Adrian said and chuckled.
"Yeah," I answered on a chuckle of my own, "but that one's a fact. This thought is a wild guess."
"Come on, then. Tell me." After he said this, I took a deep breath and took the plunge.
"What if the reason I healed so fast and saw you while I was sleeping is because of that small amount of blood that I had of yours?" I could feel Adrian still behind me, his breathing nearly stopped completely.
"I'm not saying that the medicine that I made didn't have an impact on the venom, but what if that tiny amount of blood helped me heal as well?"
"It's possible," Adrian allowed. "You didn't have a whole lot of it, so that could be one reason why it took so long to help you. I honestly can't fault your thinking, especially when I look at the wound you have now."
I lifted my arm to look where the wound should be. I have had puncture wounds before and they never looked like this one. There was a scar left behind, which was inevitable considering the size of the instrument used to pierce my skin, but instead of the puckered, angry scar I thought I would see, I had a reddish star-shaped scar that was rather reminiscent of the scar that graced Adrian's chest.
"Its strange," I continued. "I didn't even think that tiny amount could help me, but what puzzles me more is if it has to do with what I saw."
Adrian seemed to mull it over by humming a response while gently rocking me side to side. I could feel the vibration roll from his chest into my back while he gave my idea some thought, although I could feel myself becoming more and more sleepy while he swayed us both in a slow rhythm and the heat from his body transferred into my back. My eyelids were dipping lower and lower before he answered.
"It is very possible that what you saw is a direct result of the blood we shared," he finally answered. "After all, vampires and their minions, or counterparts, often are able to speak to one another telepathically over several miles. It isn't that far off to say that you could be spoken to in dreams through the blood, especially if the original host is nearby and they have a strong thought or emotion."
