Chapter 26 - Revelations

"So, if a vampire wanted to communicate with one of their offspring, they could easily do that telepathically?" I asked. I was truly interested in the subject, which I'm sure surprised Adrian. After all, it wasn't every day that someone showed interest in a vampire's abilities when they weren't out to kill them.

"Exactly. Its one way to ensure that plans are kept quiet and any further orders or thoughts on a situation was shared to the person they wanted it to get to rather than heard by everyone." Adrian slid out from behind me as gently as he could and settled me down into the bed.

"Just like right now I can tell you're tired and you need your rest," he said with a smile.

"Yeah, but that one was a given," I said with a snarky tone. "That wasn't the blood telling you anything you didn't already figure out."

Adrian grinned. "Yeah. I know. It doesn't take a whole lot of observation to know that you're tired and need real sleep rather than poison induced sleep. So, why don't we get some rest?"

Looking at his face as he snuggled down into the mattress with me, I could tell that he hadn't slept much at all in the last day or so, so I didn't argue with him. I waited for him to get comfortable before I moved closer to him and pressed myself into his warmth.

Trevor P.O.V.

Sypha was definitely in a better mood today, asking me politely to go out and see if I could get something for breakfast. I kissed her temple and took off to hunt down something and found a goose rather quickly. It was just starting to get a little cooler during the day which meant that game would soon be difficult to find, the birds would soon be gone and the vegetation would start to turn brown and lose their bounty quickly. It was because of this that I came up with an idea and made my way back to the castle to pass it by Sypha.

"With winter closing in," I said as I began boiling the water I would need to strip the feathers, "I think we should go out there and find as many berries and vegetables as we can beforehand."

Sypha seemed to think it over for a few moments. "Actually, should we really worry about that part right now? I mean we are supposed to be going with Y/N back to her time soon since we found the tools. And it shouldn't be too much longer before she's up and ready to move around."

"I know that, but it wouldn't hurt to be prepared just in case it takes a bit longer to get things moving," I pointed out. I was hoping that repairs wouldn't take long, but Y/N still needed to regain her strength before even attempting to go to work and we didn't know exactly how long that would be.

"You're right," she said finally. "Why don't we get that goose dressed and ready to go. We'll then put it in the cooler until we get back."

After making our plans and finishing our work, we headed out with baskets in hand to go hunting and gathering what supplies we could find. Admittedly it began as a simple trip out to forage for what we could find, but it turned into a sightseeing/foraging/joking around session that both of us really needed.

Once we got back, I heard some rustling coming from the library. Thinking nothing of it, I helped Sypha get things set up in the kitchen and began the arduous task of preparing the goose to go in the oven. Neither one of us knew exactly how to use the seasonings that Y/N had with her, so I made my way back to Alucard's room to ask only to find the room empty. Furrowing my brow, I thought back to the noises I heard coming from the library and headed in that direction. What I saw when I got there dredged up a laugh that I couldn't control.

There's ol' Fang Face getting a mouth full of pillow as Y/N was trying to fight him off, her giggles filling the room with merriment. Alucard would stand up and start toward her growling, his hands in the shape of claws as he reached for her. He'd get close enough to start digging in her sides and peals of laughter would erupt from her, only to have her hit him with a pillow and screech in delight.
